Ossett Albion were, last season (2000-2001), promoted into the Unibond League Division 1 for the first time in their history. This was great achivement although only promoted in the runners up spot despite leading the league until the latter stages of the season. Brigg Town's ground failed to qualify under the strong standards set by the Unibond due to a number of problems with their ground. 2 seasons before this the same happened to Albion, but they carried on striving for success and this season they finally managed to get their ground up to standards and next season will be playing some of the best non-league teams in the north. The most eye-catching of these up and coming games has to be the local derbies with Ossett Town, fellow Ossett football team and rivals.
