a list of forcasts people have said, many years ago,
regarding the future (today).
It's too hard to explain, so take a mosey through and see

Who said it?: Jehovah's
Witnesses
Forecast: The Jehovah's Witnesses,
founded in 1872, have made no fewer than eight prophecies
that the end of the world was nigh - in 1874, 1878, 1910,
1914, 1918, 1925, 1975 and 1984. The last failure
prompted the group to give up playing this game.
POLITICS
Who Said it?: Nazi propaganda
Forecast: "This Reich will last for
a thousand years."
Who
Said it?: Margaret Thatcher
Forecast: Britan's Margaret Thatcher
said in 1974; "It will be years, not in my time
before a woman becomes Prime Minister."
She landed the top job shortly afterwards.
WAR
AND WEAPONS
Who said it?: Colonel
John Smyth
Forecast: In 1951, Colonel John Smyth
told the Privy Council the bullet was no match for the
arrow. "The bow is a simple weapon. Firearms are
very complicated things which get out of order in many
ways."
Who
said it?: Vannevar Bush
Forecast: Vannevar Bush, director of the
Office of Scientific Research and Development, told US
President Harry Truman in 1945, shortly before the atomic
bomb was dropped, "This is the biggest fool thing we
have ever done. The bomb will never go off and i speak as
an expert in explosives."
Who
said it?: The British Admiralty
Forecast: The British Admiralty on the
development of the tank in 1915, "These caterpillar
landships are idiotic and useless. Those officers and men
are wasting their time and not pulling their proper
weight in war."
Who
said it?: George Malcolm Thomson
Forecast: George Malcolm Thomson,
writing in Britan's Daily Express newspaper in
1939, "There will be no great war in Europe in
1939."
Who
said it?: Marshal Ferdinand Foch
Forecast: Marshal Ferdinand Foch, a
French commander in WWII, "Aeroplanes are
interesting toys but are of no military value."
TRAVEL
Who said it?: Dr Lardener
Forecast: The development of the
railways in the 19th century was greeted with scepticism,
"Rail travel at high speeds is not possible because
passengers, unable to breathe, would die of
asphyxiation," said one Dr Lardener.
