1967 Alcort Sunfish #39255 Restoration

We're Moving to www.projectsunfish.com December 15, 2001. I have hired some help as far as website design and that is the expected date of completion. I am currently working on getting the permissions for the Official Sunfish Registry and I still need photos for the Sunfish through the years section, email me for details. If you have anything to add to Project Sunfish, let me know. I want to encourage participation from as many people as possible. The weather has not been cooperating lately so progress has been slow. I will have a couple of updates finished later tonight.

Here we have a fine example of an early Sunfish. I purchased the hull on Ebay for $25.

To be honest, I was expecting the worst as I made the four hour journey to retrieve my new toy (seriously, just how much of a boat can you get for $25?). It was soon after my arrival in Augusta that I realized what a great bargain I had found. Aside from being a little heavy and a 12 inch section of missing rubrail, the deck was firm and this boat had serious potential.

I came to terms with the fact that this would not be a racer the moment I placed the bid. But since I wasn't looking for a race boat, it was perfect.

Join me on my restoration of this beauty. Maybe you can learn something, or, if you see that I am doing something wrong, you can point it out.
