For the post graduate students , GMC Srinagar offers both degree as well as diploma courses. Degree courses are of three (3) years duration whereas the Diploma courses are of two years duration.

Admissions in P.G Courses.All the admissions to GMC Srinagar are based entirely on the merit obtained by the aspirants in the Competitive entrance examination , conducted annually by the CAEE (Competent Authority Entrance Examination) of the state of Jammu and Kashmir in the last week of July.

The eligibility of candidates is determined as follows:

  • Candidates must be permanent resident doctor of J&K state as defined in section 6 of the Constitution of J&K state or a non permanent doctor as defined  here.

  • Candidates appearing under Open Merit category must have passed M.B.B.S with not less than 50% marks in aggregate.

  • Candidates appearing under reserved categories must have passed M.B.B.S with not less than 40% marks in aggregate

  • Candidates must posses the M.B.B.S degree from the University of Jammu and  Kashmir or an equivalent degree recognized by the University of Jammu and Kashmir and the MCI with one year's pre -registration compulsory rotatory internship and be registered with the State Medical Council.

Non permanent resident  doctor: A doctor with the M.B.B.S degree from any of the universities of the Jammu and Kashmir state as defined in the section 6 of the constitution of J&K but are           

             A) Members of the All India Services allotted to the J&K State cadre and are actually servicing in the state

             B) Employees of the State/Central Govt and Physically serving in the state.

Certificate to be submitted (without pinning/stapling) with application form. All Certificates should be attached with Photostat copy of the filled up-application form. 

  1. Certificate of Permanent Resident (attested copy) if the applicant is a State subject and seeks admission under "Permanent Resident Doctor" 

  2. M.B.B.S degree certificate

  3. Marks sheet of: 1st M.B.B.S, 2nd M.B.B.S, Pre-Final and Final Year.

  4. Documentary proof of having completed one year's pre-registration compulsory internship in a recognized institution.

  5. Registration certificate of State Medical council.

  6. Date of Birth Certificate.

The Category certificates are to be obtained from the following issuing Authority only as per SR0126 of dated 28-06-1994

  • Note: These codes should be filled very carefully in the application form no change will be accepted later.

  • No certificate should be stapled or pinned with the application form. The application from will not be accepted if it is in any way damaged.

Submission of forms                                                                                          Top

i) Application forms complete in all respects must reach the Office of the Competent Authority Entrance Examination, 9-A, Poloview Srinagar (Kashmir) or Civil Secretariat, Jammu during working hours on the last date fixed for the receipt of application forms.
ii) Applications forms received after the prescribed last date even by post shall not be entertained.

  • The selection is made on the basis of the merit in the written tests.

  • If two students get same marks, their relative marks, interse merit is determined by:

         A) Candidates securing higher marks in paper-II

         B) Candidate obtaining higher mark in the qualifying examination

         C) Candidates who are older in age are given preference in such matters. 

  • The results are declared in the local news papers as well as over the net.
