Midwest Airlines operates two MD-88 aircraft in it's fleet N701ME (pictured) and N601ME. Interestingly these two aircraft were originally intended for Wardair of Canada but were never taken up. Here we see N701ME rolling out on Rwy 25L at Los Angeles International (LAX). (Photo by Michael Carter)

Air Aruba MD-88 N11FQ (49759/1606) 'Barcia Geel' Del. 12/21/1989

Another MD-88 origianlly intended for Wardair of Canada but NTU, the aircraft was then delivered to Midway Airlines as (N156PL) 'Spirit of Benjamin Franklin'. Aerolineas Argentinas MD-88 LV-VGC (53447/2064) 'Parque Calilegua' Del. 07/12/1993

Aerolineas Argentinas is the only South American operator of the MD-88. Austral Airlines was originally scheduled to take delivery of four MD-88 aircraft but never took them up. Aerolineas Argentinas took the aircraft in 1993 and still operate three of them, the fourth aircraft (LV-VBY) (53048/2030) was destroyed in a hanger fire on February 2, 1999.
