Live-Action Movie

Ok, this section is all about the new and upcoming DBZ movie which all fans are looking forward too. Currently, there have been several DB-Z-GT movies and specials, but none like this one. You see, this is a live action movie, which means that real people will be playing the parts of the anime characters.

My thoughts
Well, I can just about see Funimation making this a children's movie, with corny lines and all (Mondo Cool comes to mind ^_^). This could either make DBZ popular, if it just happens to be a good movie, or it could completely wreck how the anime is viewed in America. A good thing is that 20th Century FOX will be the creators, and they've made some good films (or so I'm told O_o) like Star Wars and X-Men.

Official Statement from Dragonballz.com
"The heroes from your favorite series are headed to the big screen. 20th Century FOX announced the acquisition of feature film rights to the “DragonBall” property, and is planning for its studio division, FOX 2000, to develop a live action movie based on the property. This is very exciting news for Dragon Ball Z fans. FUNimation Vice President and Producer Daniel Cocanougher had this to say:“FUNimation is very excited to be working with FOX in their production of a live-action Dragon Ball Z Feature Film. FOX plans to place this movie on a fast-track production schedule, and may have a movie released as early as Fall 2003 or Summer 2004. FOX is an excellent movie studio, producing such huge hits as X-Men and Star Wars, among many others.

They feel that this project will not end with one movie, but will become a major, multi-picture franchise like Star Wars. Clearly, this is a remarkable upward turning point for the Dragon Ball Z property. It will also be very interesting for all Dragon Ball Z fans to try to predict the names of the stars, the director and producers, and the storyline that will be used. FUNimation plans for its web site, www.dragonballz.com, to be the focal point of information on the production of the movie and all the fan events leading up to it. We would like to thank all the Dragon Ball Z fans worldwide for creating the excitement that allows such a major announcement as this—the new, completely original, live-action movie: Dragon Ball Z."

Conclusion
Well, there you have it. This is basically all that we currently know on the Live-Action movie. No cast or anything of the sort have been announced yet. Oh yeah, if you want to tell Funimation who should direct the movie, then there is a survey available at Dragonballz.com. The results from the "who should play Vegeta" survey are in - none other than Jackie Chan! Personally, I would've picked Jet Li, since Jackie Chan is more of a goofy kinda guy. More news will be added to this section as it comes out. Oh yeah, the poster that many people thought was official (All they need is seven, and the universe is theirs) is actually fake.
