The communication age has brought with it an explosion of new technologies onto the mass market. Watching films has been transported onto a new level via the invention of DVD (Digital Versatile Discs) Technology. A plethora Information can be accessed at the touch of a button through the internet and mobile phone technology has advanced to the stage where the mobile phone is seen as an almost compulsory item to carry with you at all times. This revolution in the media world has had its effects on television also. BBC3 will be a new channel launched by the worldly acclaimed British Broadcasting Corporation very shortly. The channel was originally prohibited from airing at all but this decision was then reversed by the culture secretary Tessa Jowell. BBC3 has been given strict conditions in which it will be allowed to transmit which will have a direct effect on the consumer. The channel itself will not be on terrestrial TV and thus will needed to be purchased on some format (Cable, Digital etc).
