"America Scans the Newspaper"

15 September 1963

Innocents of seven years of age,
White dress, scattered with velvet flowers.
Black hair curled tight, kinky.
Black face with pearl black pupils.
Lips in oval form, sweet song emoting.
Open arms outstreached, reaching for love.
Beautiful innocent child of man, woman.
Read no further,
check weather,
Dow Jones,
etc., etc., etc.

16 September 1963

Two remaining walls, decorated blood red.
Child no longer standing, dead.
Lips no longer oval, grotesque.
Arms still out streached,
one here, one there.
Don't ignore the cries of an innocent one.
The screams of her sister as pure.
Read no further,
check weather,
Dow Jones,
etc., etc., etc.

"IF DIRT IS SWEPT UNDER THE RUG, IT STILL REMAINS IN THE HOUSE, COLLECTING MORE DIRT".

I wrote this after reading About the death of four human beings in an arson caused fire at a black church in the
"civilized"
United States of America.

"Civil ? Choice"
(anywhere U.S.A.)

As I spoke to a friend of mine,
below the Mason Dixon Line,
a tail of unbeliveability broke
upon my ears as he spoke
He began to speak in a quite voice
about the people and their choice.

"To live and die is every man's lot
but one poor soul to soon forgot.
Where he lived animals were kings
and would step on anything
that showed a difiant way of life,
be it child, husband or wife."

Just the ending now I heard
as I listened to his every word.
My insides turned as I invisioned
the words and their mission.

"His skin was black, his blood was red
as it oozed out his fractured head.
He hung above his earth so dear,
the open air his funeral bier.

His whole left leg was smashed to bits,
stomach emptied homony grits.
From his neck was a long white rope.
T'was his choice,
he wanted to VOTE".

"Real Insight"

Several weeks ago the Emergency Room was a beehive of activity as was usual for a week end. The ambulance crew was bringing in a recent victum of a three car crash. On the gurney lay a white male 6'2" 180lbs of humanity near death. Having placed the gurney into the selected space the crew was leaving as the on duty nurse and doctor took over.

Only the few moments of his entrance till this second did it take for John Doe to die. Having already checked his wallet for identifcation the nurse spotted the fact of John Doe being an organ donor. Quickly her mind is focused on little Pam Albright, a 12 year old girl in room 202 needing a right eye replacement. Bringing this fact to the doctor, all is prepaired for the possible replacement.

That was then. Now the bandages are about to be removed for the last time, a time of reality, a time of success or failure. With little light in the room the doctor begins to unwind the bandages, slowly one layer at a time. All are off, Pam begins to raise her eye lids, closing them, slowly opening them. Knowing the left eye is the good one she subconciciously opens that one all the way first. Yes there before her is Mom, in a colorful flower designed dress. Pam feels so excitied and yet hesetently begins to open the right eye. A questioning look comes over her face and she squints, reopens, squints, "What's wrong mom ask's, what's wrong??? Unbeleiveing what she sees Pam screams,"I can only see black and white with my right eye," the scream is now death defying, "Only black and white"!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RACISM WILL LIVE ON IF IT IS NOT ENDED SOON
(John Doe could have been a woman and/or a black person)
(depending on which eyes YOU are using)
