Beer Review: Saranac ESB

I have had mixed success with this style of beer before. Considering that they are closely related to Pale Ales, which I usually love, you'd think I would be fond of ESB's as well. Not true, with this beer bolstering my unfavorable opinion of the style even further. Medium in color and body, this was only an okay brew. Nothing else was notable about this beer except that it was slightly bitter. This characteristic, however faint, distinguished the ESB as just about the only of the Saranacs I have had recently that exhibited even an element of the 'taste' they were supposed to sport. -- Brewmeister G
