Beer Review: Radler
If ever in Germany, make sure that you try what they call radler. The word means cyclist. Radler is any lager or pilsner style lighter beer mixed with lemonade, which is proof that Germans take their beer seriously. Radler is meant to be more refreshing for cyclists to drink while on the road - because after all, if you need a drink, it must be beer. Before you make that face, try it. We first tried it in the fruit and vegetable market and again in the Augustinian Bier Garten in Munich. Finally, we enjoyed one with our schpetzel, weiss wurst and pretzel lunch in old town Heidelberg. I hear that they also do the same with cola, but I liked the radler so much that there was no need to partake of that concoction. -- Growler Guy
