Beer Review: Dominion Summer Wheat (Hefe Weizen)

A fellow beer aficionado commented that he believed this brew might be a 'Whit' -- a Belgian wheat beer. OD's Beer Menu proclaims the Summer Wheat a 'refreshing, German-style Hefe Weizen'. In either case, I was not very impressed with this beer and have tasted better Hefe Weizens. Spice hints abounded in this brew, although beyond that there did not seem to be much 'depth' at all. An odd aroma hit my nose when I dipped in for a sip. Maybe I was missing something I shouldn't have here, but I was not missing this beer when I was done with it. Probably my least favorite of all that I tried that night. -- Brewmeister G

What a difference a year makes, eh? Light in both color and body, there were light spice notes at the end of this unfiltered summer offering from OD. I think they had just finished brewing this when I tried it -- not sure why it impressed me this year and not last July.... Some coriander notes were present, with the beer itself being both smooth and crisp. Last year it didn't suit me, but this time around I found this a very nice summer wheat! -- Brewmeister G
