Beer Review: HB Maibock

This German delight has all the riches of an amber German beer, but retains that Bavarian quality exemplified in Octoberfests. The Maibock is a coppery and red beer that has a slight head and is remarkably refreshing. It falls shorts of Spaten’s Oktoberfest or Optimator in thickness, but is somewhat of a Samuel Adams meets Spaten Lager in the Alps. While many German seasonal beers are hard on the stomach, this bock does not cause your spatzel to shake, nor your sauerkraut to go sour. I thoroughly recommend this beer in a tent, in a stadium, or sipping soupe. -- Dopplebock
