Beer Review: Baltika Classic Lager (#3)

According to their web site, the Korean General Secretary of the Labor Party Kim Jong Il visited Baltika Brewery in St.Petersburg on August 6, 2001. Although I couldn’t imagine what Kim Jong Il thought while trying Baltika lager, I’m sure he was impressed. I was impressed with the crisp and light flavor of Baltika #3 (one of their lighter beers). At 4.8% I should have tried more. Baltika is brewed in St. Petersburg and their products are rapidly becoming Russia’s most renowned exported beers. This beer did not leave an aftertaste and reminded me of some lighter Japanese beers. I would like to try more of these if possible. -- Dopplebock
