Beer Review: Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout

Hearty Imperial Stout --named because English brewers made this style for Imperial Russia's Czar's court (I think it was their "country" beer) in the 1800s. Very rich style, makes Guinness look kind of tame, next to "Old Rasputin" this is the best Imperial Stout I've had, well, maybe Dr. Dremo's Graceland comes close... Rather high in alcohol too. Hints of chocolate even coffee are in this one, and actually, it makes for a decent ice cream float... (no I'm not kidding) popular with the gentler sex. I like it. -- The King

Quite dark in color, this stout had -- as expected -- a medium-to-heavy body. The color, though, was what impressed me most about this beer. It was as though I was pouring motor oil into my pub glass -- I mean, I've had colas lighter than this! I could almost smell a little dark chocolate on the aroma that drifted up from said pub glass to my waiting nose. One taste, smooth as it was, and I knew this was what I refer to as a 'sipping' beer. This beer was good, albeit rather strong (alcohol-wise -- 8.5%). -- Brewmeister G
