Beer Review: Anderson Valley Hop Ottin' IPA
My third post-dinner brew review, and third in a row from the folks at Anderson Valley, proved to be about as interesting as the first two. Meaning 'not very'. Medium in color, with a medium-to-lighter body, there were slight to medium hops notes present in this IPA. The lack of pronounced hops, combined with a smoky aftertaste, led me to deem this not-very-in-your-face IPA 'disappointing'. 'Surprising' might have been my choice of words, had I known then what I found out after taking my tasting notes. Dopplebock showed me an article by Michael Jackson (beer guru) that named this beer one of his favorite international-style American brews. Surprising, indeed. -- Brewmeister G
