The Power Advantage DBZ RPG News Archives: October 2003
Updates/News
10/27/03 - I just wanted to get a quick update in while I was thinking about it this morning. I want to apologize for the lack of update son my part for like last 3 days, I've been away from home and a computer in general (Castlevania: Lament of Innocence will do that to ya) and thus I missed out on a few updates. I'll get them later this afternoon/evening, so no worries there. I would assume that with a few stat boosts here and there ...along with credit/item gains, that most of you know that I updated pretty much all of the tournament stuff. The last two things that haven't been updated yet are the Omega class weapons and the Super Heavyweight doubles yet. They will be as soon as I get the required information.
The tournament, as a whole, was highly successful in my opinion. I pretty much ran the most of it by myself, along with some great help from 17 and Hobo. I wanna thank everyone for participating and I hoped you liked the generous rewards for even attempting to fight. I'm disappointed that I had to even move a few matches by default, but I'm still content with the results I have. Well....with the tournament pretty much over and a bunch of people with some extra credits, let the planet hopping/questing begin! As always keep one good eye on the forums and let the other one scope around the site to add those extra hits.
LZ's Note: Check the CONTEST Page!!

10/22/03 - Lander Z has asked me to inform you all of a round robin style fight between the winners of the seperate divisions. He's using some type of formula to make it fair, and while I don't think we will see the results, it will help him in making the RPG I'm sure. So I'm asking those who participated in the tourney to visit the page once more and bring your attention to the bottom of the page, where those who won are asked to fight the other victors. Send all of you logs to pahonormatch@yahoo.com, I will take care of it from there. The format is as follows, you follow HM rules and whenyou send your log, make sure you state how much damage you did total and what your power level was (Ex: John(200kPL) did 113 dmg to Cory(650kPL) who did 198 dmg to John). Thank you for you assistance in making Power Advantage better than it already is, until next time, keep sparing, training, checking the forum, etc.
LZ's Note: Check the bottom of the tournament 5 page for the list. The scores are what was spit out of the formula, the damages are the damages done (damager dealer on the left, guy who takes the damage on the top). Also, a 500 credit prize to anyone who can figure out the FORMULA I use, based on the scores I spit out (I round the last digit properly), using the following hints: the only variables I use are Damage dealt (by both people; Dmg1 and Dmg2 essentially), and PL's of both people (PL1, PL2), and not necessarily each only once. Try to move the battles along quickly, too, so the staff can update the damage chart, and I can update the score chart.

09/18/03 - I just wanted to make sure you all understood the error pop-up when you access the member pages. Select NO, this will allow the java script to run, if you push yes, you will notice that only halfof the page will load, or it will cut off at some other random place. Now that that's cleared up, train, check the forums, and do your tournamnet matches if you haven't already.

10/18/03 - Tournament Update - Most of the divisions are done, which is great. However, there are still a few battles that need to get done. Today marks the second cap for the singles and the first for the doubles. I didn't want to have to move people on by default so far into the tournament, but I was forced to do so. Mizokura moves on from Kenshin. Kenshin now faces Lucas. You two must get your battles done and the winner face Mizokura. I'm giving maybe three days to do this battle before I move someone onward by default, yet again. Now for another problem: Goten and Imara must get their battle done in the finals, unless Imara doesn't even want to finish the tournament. Either way, I need to talk to you Imara.
On to the doubles. I've decided, using my better judgement (which may come back to bite me in the behind), to halt the lightweight division. I have seen no two teams on at the same time, and I am not about to wait 2+ weeks to move each time by default. You guys signed up and you guys read about the permission posts so you should've been prepared to do these battles. Being the nice guy that I am, I'll return all credits that were spent entering the lightweight doubles when tournament stats/prizes are updated. In the heavyweight doubles, I made a decision that may yet again, come back to haunt me. A few days ago, Raging Horormones and Atronis fought for awhile and Raging was ahead, by alot. There was no chance for Atronis to win, espically with the d20s that were rolled. Thus, I moved Raging forward. Not by default, since the battle took place for the most part, but I moved them on since the cap was hit. If anyone has a problem, I can show them the battle and prove that Raging already had the win.
Besides these hectic tournament battles, everything else is running smoothly. Today I may make a post for the item picks so keep one eye on the forums. Kudos to 17 for the awesome, and dare I say sexy, new front page. You know the drill, keep checking the site and the forums.

10/17/03 - Power Advantage currently has 88 members, however, I know that not even half of them participate anymore. That is why I am annoucing an inactive member sweep. I will speak with Hoboman and Raziel and we will delete all inactive members, this is happening ASAP. If you are deleted and think you shouldn't have been, email me, I am keeping all of the stats of the people I delete, just in case there was a mix up. Also, for some odd reason the members page is down, it's a whole lot of code to look at, so I'll do my best to have back up and running ASAP, you all know as well as I do a stupid comma is missing somewhere. Thank you for your time and your patience, keep training and checking the forums, and oh yes... if you haven't already, GET YOUR TOURNAMENT MATCHES DONE!

10/15/03 - I just wanted to make a seperate note, this web page looks best on 1024 by 768 resolution, also, if you wish to get all of the feautures you must use Internet Explorer (I know, I know, you all hate me now). The links fade to red with some Java Script I used, but you can't view it in Mozilla or Opera. And now that you all hate me for making you use Internet Explorer, I will go.

10/15/03 - As you may have noticed, along with the 250,000 hit mark, Power Advantage has had a makeover. This was all done by yours truely, so I hope you enjoy it, if there are any broken links (i.e. pictures not working, etc.) post it somewhere in the forum for me, and I'll do my best to fix it A.S.A.P. On another note, the tournament is running smoothly, the Omegaweight division has been finished up, we do need the teams to start moving, however. Remember, if your member cannot get online, as long as they send an email to The Tournament Email Address with the understanding that it is ok for their partner to control them, and that they accept all of the consequences of that battle. Well, that's about it, I'm very happy at the tournament, its been running smoothly, Raziel has been working his butt off to make this thing happen smoothly. Myself and Hoboman came up with the concept and act as advisors, Raz does the hard work, so I'd like to give it up for him. Until my next post, keep training and checking the forum (and using decent language, mind you)!
Note: Mouse over the staff names at the top, for those of you with active email (AOL/Microsoft Outlook), you can click the names to email the staff member. If you don't, refer to this when you're wondering who to send something to.

10/13/03 - Well, not to much to report here. The tournament is running great and some upsets have already occured. I've been getting alot of questions about things concerning the Doubles Division, so I'll clear them here. If you and your opponents are always online, yet your teammate never is, that can be resolved. If that teammate sends an e-mail to patourney@yahoo.com saying that you have permission to 'play for' them, then you may. If there is no e-mail from your teammate and you attempt to do the above, your team will be disqualified. So make sure they send the e-mail to have it legal. Another Doubles note: The 4-day cap for the doubles will now be extended to 8-days, x2 the single cap. The main reason being: It's very hard to get 4 people on at the same time and 4 days might have been a little harsh.
On that note, the singles will reach the round 1 cap tomorrow! So all battles (non-round robin ones) must be done by then, or the staff will be forced to talk over who has been online more out of the unfinished battles and declare a 'winner'. Winners by default will recieve spar bonuses however, the losers willnot, for they were the ones that wern't online enough. So I don't want complaining from some people. The only matche that can spill 1 or 2 days into the cap are [Android 16 vs. Mirai Trunks] since a rematch was called for them.
Big post, almost done though. On my final note: We're reaching 250k hits very shortly. Last I checked, we were 1200 hits away. It's very exciting for us who have been here for over a year and never really thought that the PA could reach 1/4 of a million hits. Anyway, sticking with tradition, I'll award credits to people who can give me screenshots of the main page within 2 of 250k hits. I'll award 400 credits to the member who gives me the 250,000 screen shot, 300 credits to the members who give me 249,999 or 250,001, and 200 credits to the members who give me 249,998 or 250,002. Only one screenshot per member, and it must be the FULL PAGE, not a screenshot of the counter. To get a screenshot, I belive you press the 'Print Screen' buttonn on your keyboard, I'm not sure. All of those e-mails go to Raziel. Well, I belive that's it. Keep checking the forums and the site, who knows what may stir up once we reach this upcoming landmark?

10/09/03 - Heyo, everyone! Yeah, it's me, the "College Kid" (For lack of a better pun). Wow, time has been flying... and I'm glad to see that PA is keeping up. I've been checking the forums regularly, and checking the site every now and then; almost 250k Hits! Wow! Now, I don't have much that is worth saying... School is hard and keeps me busy, I'm going home for Thanksgiving(Cdn) Weekend, here, so that's good. I 'sprained' my elbow last Thursday (darned Rollerblades! Darn you!), and now the Doctor thinks it might be fractured (.... Doesn't that require a cast? Like, in less time than A WEEK LATER?!) Anyway, I am extraordinairly pleased to see the tournament going so well; My tournaments never ran this smoothly or had this turnout ( :-( ). Oh, well. However, one note I have for that: I was wondering if I could conduct an... 'experiment', shall we say. The winner of every division; I don't care which, really (save for doubles; those won't really work), is to have a round robin match; if someone wins multiple divisions, just count them as 1 player. These will all be 1vs1, HM rules, and tournament rules, otherwise. I want the PL's of the characters (with clothes/majin/etc. Not sure about transformations, though; I'll think on that for now), and the total damage done by every character against every opponent recorded. Example: John(200kPL) did 113 dmg to Cory(650kPL) who did 198 dmg to John. I will be using a brand spanking new formula thing I came up with (Consisting of a whole 4 variables, only repeating one, once). Basically, if you do a proportional damage to a stronger foe, you'll get a higher score than a stronger foe doing proportionally less damage to you; doesn't matter if you're 20k PL and do 8 dmg, if they are 1 million PL and only do 15; you're value will probably be higher. Anyway, I think I might give a prize out for these, but we'll see how those go....
Well, I have Chemistry class to get to. I hope to check back again, soon! Great job, and kudos, to the staff!

10/08/03 - Some good news for tournament people. YOU MAY NOW BEGIN TO HAVE YOUR MATCHES!! Only a few things I must say. I dcided to let people start because, I already have 3 e-mails in the tournament box for battles. So, I might as well officially start the tournament. Make sure you read and use the d20 system we made up(17s post) and send all battle outcomes to patourney@yahoo.com. Also, you must wait until your bracket has been updated and the next round filled in, before you can move ahead. Finally, the cap for the singles is still the 14th, not four days from tonight. Happy fighting everybody!! Updates will be every day possible, I tahnk you all for joining and keep checking the site. We're so close to 250k hits!

Note: All tournament matches that took place on October 8th were updated. (Android 17)

10/08/03 - As we grow closer to the weekend, the tournament events that accompany this weekend, and the 250,000 hit mile stone, I am pleased to tell you that as of late, Power Advantage has climbed back up on the rankings of the best DBZ sites (in the visiting aspect). We have been getting more individual hits and regular hits per day than we have been in a long time, and to boot I have been getting more join forms as well. I would just like to thank you guys for visiting, I think I speak for all of the staff when I say it feels as if you have faith in us, during Lander's absence. Now, onto more important matters (and things you want to hear), the tournament page has been updated again, with all of the brackets being posted... so you may now begin strategizing and what not. Also, shortly I will post that suprise that will effect the tournament battles greatly, so keep checking the site regularly for that. Keep training, checking the forums, and I hope you all have fun this weekend and the following week, you all deserve it!
NOTE: The twist has been put up, check the tourney page to find out what it is!

10/07/03 - Some new things that need to be posted in here. First of all, we're getting close to 250,000 hits, so let's see that counter rise a bit more! The tournament sign-ups closed yesterday with a huge wave of people signing up at the last minute. The grand total of members who signed up for the singles division is 26! Now, I'm not 100% sure if 1/3 the whole PA is the best turnout for a tournament thus far, but never-the-less it is still quite impressive in my book. Dates for the Battle Royales are not final but they will be held on the day that is posted. Times may change once I ask around to see what time is best for everyone. The day will stay though, next Sunday should be about half-way through the singles and doubles so the date fits well. One last note: The brackets are all made for each division. They will be posted very soon. So keep checking the site to find out who you will face in the first round. There's also an interesting surprise that awaits all members in the tournament, which will affect each battles outcome greatly. So keep an eye open for that as well. So, I leave you with the usual: Keep sparring and checking the funny discussions in the forums, and I thank all of you who joined the tournament. It helps show LZ who still has drive for the RPG and may help you all in the future.

10/01/03 - Well, I have some quick things to notify members about. The Tournament page is done now. There were a few changes to rules but most of it is the same. Keeping on track with tournament news, there seems to have been a very small amount of people joining...3 to be exact. I can only assume that most of you are waiting for your stats from last week to be updated before you send. I think we all are. Well, by 6p.m.(Est.) tonight, all spars will be caught up. Tonights spar update will be the last time your stats will rise before the tournament, unless you buy some sort of training, so I would highly suggest you all start sending in your join forms for the tournament. You don't want to miss out on it, espically with this next bit of news. I have talked with Lander and we will be bringing back the old "spar bonuses" from previous tournaments (excluding the last one). For new or unfamiliar members, that means for every battle you participate in during the singles divisions, you will gain spar bonuses (except for the credits). There will be a cap of maybe 5 battles worth of bonuses, but stats are stats. I belive that this would benefit all members. Finally, I will update all members who send in their join forms to patourney@yahoo.com as soon as I get them. With that all said, I leave you with the usual: Keep sparring and keeping the forums interesting. I hope to see many of you sign up for the tournament.
