The Power Advantage DBZ RPG News Archives: August 2002
Updates/News
08/30/02 - Many updates have kept me busy, and very few have had enough significance to mention, here. I would just like to mention a few small changes that will be occuring, now that school is starting back for everyone.
First off, I won't be able to update as often. It really won't kill you to wait until you can buy that Radar and Senzu, since you'll want both before questing, rather than one, and then the other in a week. This relates to the issue of sending me multiple updates in single emails. I do not want to receive three emails with three different purchases, all on the same day (Or even on close days!). Most things, from purchases of items, to trainings, can be sent in a single email, allowing me to update many things at once. Quest forms, or clan donations, cannot, however.
Second topic: Quests. This summer has proven to be very efficient for Questing people. Low wait times, and more Quests done. Although we aren't going to be going back to the original system (That in which you send in your form, and might, with some luck, Quest in the next three months), we won't be able to Quest as frequently as before. I've gone through the ropes with Hoboman, and he may be able to Quest alone, after a few more practise runs, but until then, there is Android 17, who still has a broken computer, Brolli, who is in college, and myself, who has scholarship applications and university applications to work on while trying to maintain a high GPA. It might be a few weeks before the two of us get online to quest, so don't be frustrated. We currently have Stratus and Kashini in Otherworld, wanting to be revived, so I'm sure they'd appreciate some help in that department.
I'm also looking at opening up a new planet's worth of trainings, soon. I won't say which, or what the moves will be like, but I am certain I will get the usual bunch of complaints and whining that I always seem to receive when placing new trainings.
Last few things: I have received informal 'complaints' about my character, Podrin, and how he is 'cheap', or some people even go so far as to say he has an unfair advantage. I'm not going to go through the site reasoning and all that, since you can all see it in the Email Us or FAQ pages. As for him being cheap, I have no doubts. Yes, he is cheap. Perhaps too much so. But there is a simple - and obvious - reasoning for this. Like all my characters, he is a test one. If there are cheap loopholes in the system, I need to find them, find out exactly how they work, and fix them. I have a prototype idea for Warrior Healing that might fix it, and then I have a few things to test with him as he grows. Also, I do not wish to hear any more complaints about the site's emotional states. If there are threads on the message board that sicken you with their overuse of emotion, then don't read them! Stop whining to me about them! Lastly, I do not know when the next Saga or Tournament will be, so quit asking!
Keep training, checking the site, and the forums!!

08/27/02 - Hey all, I don't have much to say, thanks to all who wished me congrat's on getting the spot. I want it to be known that I DO NOT have a definite date yet for the tourney. I'm looking at between the middle and end of september. When I finally heard from LZ that it would be alright for me to do this I didn't have enough time to plan it well enoguh to my standards and have word out soon enough before I start school. Middle-end of Sept. means that most of us who have school will have started and gotten into the swing of things, so please stop asking me when it's going to be, if you have enoguh time to do this or that before it. Keep training and getting ready for it, I also know a few people would love to be wished back before the tourney happens.
-Hoboman
08/23/02 - I am relatively pleased at how the Saga went, although I was not happy about people signing up, and not being there. If you sign up for a Saga, after the Date has been posted, it means both that you will be there at the allotted time, and that you will be present for the whole thing. Chibi Goten and Reno were both penalized for this. Several new Specials and stuff lying around, now, so feel free to look at those. Check the Saga Log for reference to Evangelion and other things, as well. I will probably have some big news, soon, so keep checking the site and forum, as well as training! We'll probably have a Tournament, next, which will probably be run by Hoboman.

08/20/02 - Not much for big news. Bandwidth is looking good, the forums are bustling with activity (Catch the most recent news in there, rather than expecting me to post it here), and the Saga is fast approaching. Just letting people know of a few events that have occured. A ship with two, very weak passengers managed to escape Brolli's notice and is heading towards Namek. (I can already sense people saying 'Hey! You let your character go, but not ours!'. Well, both passengers are sub 200,000 PL, and they cannot reach it soon enough to Quest for Brolli's Revival and destroy his unlimited KI bonus before the Saga). Also, a new member has died today, by a large explosion caused by his Majin controller, Xellos. Just letting you know that it was entirely legal, and I, personally do not feel sorry for him; if you become a slave, you run the risk of dying. Anyway, Xellos mentioned something about not enjoying being used by Xar (Too...Many... X-named...Members...), or something like that. Lastly, no, you may not Death Match him for this, and Stratus did not get into King Kaio's. He may still spar Tobias, who is also dead, though. Keep training and checking the site and forums!

08/15/02 - I am going to give a relatively final time for the Saga; a week today (Thursday the 22nd), at 3:00 PM PST. That's 4 Mountain, 5 Central, 6 Eastern, I believe Midnight the 23rd(Morning) German, and 7 AM the 23rd for Australian. There will be no 'set list' of who goes in; so long as you met the qualifications, and sent in a form, and are online at the time, you may or may not get in. There will also be one non-Saga related activity before this. Tobias finished a Quest earlier today, dying in it, but recoil damage pushed the boss far enough that he was forced, by the rules, to 'flee'. That leaves 5 Dragonballs, sitting there. There will be a large Group Battle, with 'anything-goes' rules, with whoever wishes to get a free 1500 credits. However, Iron(The Boss) will be present, and must be defeated, as well. Anyone may quit during it, but only at the start of your turn (You may not attack, and then quit, or be about to die, then quit). This is a 'permanent' match, and if you die, you actually die. If you die here, you have 0% chance of going to King Kaio's. Qualifications for enterring are as follows: You must have over 50,000 PL, have a fighting chance at winning (Having only your 1d10 or simply a low damage attack and no 'tricks' means you have no chance), and you must not have successfully completed a single Quest since July 1, 2002. Do not email your requests for this, but be online as much as you can, tomorrow, as whoever is online at the unset time can be in it, should they meet these qualifications. Keep checking the forums and training!

08/14/02 - Alright. Not huge news, but some important stuff. The Saga date appears to be Thursday, August 22nd, at 3 or 5 PM PST. This may last as long as 3 hours, so please plan for this. The exact time will be set by this weekend, after I have heard from several key members if they can make it. If you have over 200,000 PL, and figure you can contribute (Don't be suicidal; if you try this, you won't be going to King Kaio's), then email me your sign up forms. Keep checking the forums and training!
New note:Tien and Chibi Gohan have been revived. That is all.

08/12/02 - Alright listen up everyone there are minor confusions that i'm going to clear up. All spars and moves are to be sent to the same address as before the dbzspars@yahoo.com, hobo(which is how i refer to hoboman) has access to the spar email so keep sending them there and not his own email. Also to keep confusion down and make it easier to see if someone made a mistake on an update please at the begining of a spar state all of your stats. I repeat ALL of your stats. That includes speed and skill. This will only make things work faster and more professional. Till next train hard and good luck with the saga.
-Brolli
08/11/02 - Never too much to say, in the news, but there are a few things that might spark some interest. A few more Saga Logs have been added to the Darkness Saga, as well as some Quests completed. I am also looking at the final Saga date being between the 20th and the 22nd, at around 6:00 PM PST, for 2-3 hours. I need to ask my boss if he can finish the work schedule soon so I can plan the date, but please start thinking about these dates and trying to keep them open if you wish to participate. If you are over 200,000 PL, you will be allowed to enter, so long as too many people do not join. Not much else, so keep checking the forums and training!

08/07/02 - Once again, not a great deal of news. I spent most of my day sleeping, and lots of the rest figuring out some things by reviewing old logs, but I did manage to speak with Brolli and confirm our new Staff Member choice. The running was close, between Hoboman (Whom I will forever refer to as Daimao...) and Jeice, but it seemed that Hoboman fit more of the necessary requirements of what we were looking for, a key one being that he has two more years in High School. All the forms will be saved, as it appears something else may be coming up in the near future, so don't think that you were considered 'inferior' to anyone else. Virtually all the forms were very good, and it was difficult to choose exactly which was 'best', so we mostly just looked for what would suit the updator best. Brolli will begin training Hoboman, soon, and teaching him as much of our HTML as he'll be needing to know. We thank you all for your submissions, and we are glad so many people were ready to come to the aid of the RPG, when we asked for it. Keep checking the forums and training!

08/06/02 - Once again, not much to report in major news. The Staff Applications have been reviewed, and it seems that Brolli and myself have narrowed the decision of the new Junior Spars/Moves Updator to two people, who will still remain nameless until the final decision is made. All the forms were well done, aside from the one or two who tried to base their primary reason for wanting/deserving to be staff on that they 'liked the RPG'. I would also like to warn people about Questing, especially those who have not Quested before, and let them know that it isn't easy, so don't figure "Hey! I have a 1d20 - 25 KI sig, I'll slaughter the enemies!" There is a lot to the Quests, and 95% of it is mental; the same person can lose in the second fight, or win the Quest, depending on how they play it out. I am also letting it be known that the Royal Ship is blasting off tomorrow morning, and updates have been made to it. However, I need to do a storyline for its departure, so I'll try to make it, and recent events, brief:
Evangelion and Paikuahn flew as fast as their injured bodies could carry them, with the Holy Demon still carrying a writhing Jeice in his arms.
It was only a few more minutes before they reached Kami's Lookout, but it seemed an eternity as they flew in silence.
Immediately as they reached the Lookout, they were greeted by Mirai Trunks and Karthias, who had sensed their energy and had been watching them as they arrived. Once they saw a barely-conscious Jeice, Karthias called out, and Wolfwood came running, before placing his hand on the Alien's forehead.
"Something... something is definetely not right. It isn't just wounds... a piece of him, something inside, is holding on by mere threads," Wolfwood tried to explain, although not with much luck.
"He joined the other side, but we managed to beat him and I brought him as far back as I could," Eva filled in. Wolfwood nodded, before going to heal the Alien.
After an hour of intensive healing, Wolfwood groaned with exhaustion, before falling back onto his behind, and breathing heavily. Sweat was dripping freely down his face, and his clothes were also moist.
Jeice was inhaling deeply, each breath seeming to bring new life into him. He would need to rest, before he would be able to truly recover.
***
The next day, or at least thirteen hours later, Reno boarded his Royal Ship with its passengers, while Wolfwood and his patient watched from nearby.
Jeice hadn't spoken a word, but still couldn't understand why he had the sudden craving for pink, flowered dresses...
Evangelion smiled at him, knowingly, before turning, and gasping audibly, causing everyone else to turn around.
Clearly visible about three hundred meters away, on a small rise, was the goat-form of Janemba, radiating a firey energy as he watched the Royal Ship.
Everybody's eyes were fixated on the figure, until they heard Jeice yelp in surprise, and they turned around, again, to see Brolli the same distance in the other direction, his muscles bulging in his Ultimate Super Saiya-Jin transformation.
Janemba was the first to speak, his voice reaching every ear of the warriors'.
"Either you stop this take off, or face the consequences! The one who faced me, before, and the owner of the ship. They are to stay here, or I shall destroy the Royal Ship," Janemba explained his demands cooly, but it was the demands, themselves, that left the warriors thinking.
Reno growled from within his ship, but Karthias put his hand on his friend's shoulder, and led Ramirez out of the ship. Reno proceded to take off, with all available haste, while Brolli flew after it, and Janemba seemed to erupt into a pillar of flame, which subsided less than a second later, leaving no visible, or sense-able, trace of him, whatsoever.
Things were growing weirder by the minute!
So, a few new twists. I hope to have some Saga stuff happen this week, especially during my days off of work, so whoever thinks they have important roles should try and be online as much as possible, especially in the mornings and at night. Keep checking the forum and training!

08/05/02 - Not much in the way of big news. There have been a pair of Saga events done, since the last post, and both are up on the Saga page. The Fusion is becoming very strong, although King Kaio is rather angry about finding a way to bring Pardus back to train, only to have him be revived later the same day. Jeice and Paikuhan are both flying new colours, and you might want to take a look at some of their new moves, as well as the Genki Dama Chart that has been made, to help with the calculations for the technique. Not much else aside from the fact that EZBoard hates me and is refusing to let me see any pages on any board that uses it, so don't post anything important in it, until I can see it again. Keep checking the forums and training, as the Saga is coming up, very soon!

08/01/02 - Well, it appears that the Bandwidth is at least workable with, so long as we don't overdo it in the next few days. For starters, since Brolli is going away to college next year, and is unsure of whether or not he'll have enough time to cope with both his life their, as well as his position here, I am wanting to train a new Junior Staff member to work with the spars and moves, so that they can fill in, should Brolli feel he is unable to continue his work, here. Please note that we are looking for someone who doesn't go on a great deal of vacations, does well in school (I don't want someone to be unable to update due to being grounded over bad marks), and someone who can update at least three times a week. At the beginning, these sessions will probably be around thirty minutes, but will get shorter as you figure out the shortcuts of the job. To apply for the position of Spars/Moves updator, fill out THIS FORM, and send it to me.
Questers will also be pleased at a few changes I've made to the programs. If you have failed many more times than passed, like triple or quadruple the amount, then the Quest becomes easier. I hope to see people Questing, especially for Revival of the two presently deceased members, Chibi Gohan and Pardus. The Kaios smile upon those who go out of their ways to help others.
I am posting a longer storyline, now, as to not need to post several over several days, so then people need only view this once, and then can think on it, without coming back every day to wait for another.
Janemba smiled to himself, his thoughts of Reno and Karthias having already passed. He had other things to do, and had to hurry, if we was to complete his task.
He pulled out his large Dragonball Radar, and turned it on, before twisting the upper dial to ignore signals sent from regular Dragonballs. He had bigger game in mind...
***
After having destroyed the crimelord's mansion, as well as his body, Janemba smiled at his prize. He finally had it, the Three-Star Black Star Dragonball. This would bring his collection to nearly complete, although he still had to find a few more before it would be over.
Suddenly, Janemba shuddered, and flames burst from his hands, before he roared uncontrollably. The very foundation of where he stood shook, and flames consumed everything...
It was only minutes later, when he lay, panting on the ground, that he groaned at the outburst of energy. He had greater power - he was sure of it! - but he needed to harness its power before he destroyed everything.
"So, this is what you've been up to..." A voice inquired, and Janemba spun around, furious that he had been caught off-guard.
A familiar figure stood before him, chuckling.
Janemba growled, a deep rumbling in his throat.
"Don't blame me for finding you; I'm sure every person on Earth felt that outburst. Every strong Warrior around will be able to find you, with that. I suggest we talk, elsewhere. Perhaps where you have the other ones of those..." The white-haired figure gestured to the Dragonball.
Janemba growled, but knew he was right. Until he could use this power, he could not defeat a large group of the fighters. He could bide his time a little longer.
A little bit longer.
***
It took virtually no time for the pair to reconvene near the spot Janemba had been using as his own, and he knew his Dragonballs were so well hidden that nobody could find them without him, or a Black Star enhanced device.
"So, let's see. You have a few of those, I suppose. One from here, I can assume one from Kanassa and either Konats or Meat, as well, judging by your device by which you find them. Lastly, I don't doubt you've been to the Makyo Star... But you don't have them all, do you? No, of course you don't. I'd be dead if you did," the figure smiled, almost implying that Janemba couldn't perform that feat now, should he choose.
"Just get to the point. Why should I not kill you, here and now?" Janemba demanded, before being forced to wait for a response. He didn't like bargaining, but something patience was necessary. He had recently learned this, although he couldn't explain how...
"I know, even with that Radar of yours, that you can only tell a general direction of the Dragonballs. It can't be too specific, especially at such long distances. Am I correct?" The figure asked, and continued before waiting for Janemba's nod.
"I know, even without your toy, where two more of the Dragonballs are. I can give exact locations, on the exact planets," the white-haired figure stated, and waiting for Janemba's eyes to widen, before smiling.
Janemba recovered, and figured out the game, quick enough.
"And, in return...?"
"I give a great deal, and ask for little. I want to be Evil, again. I don't like this life - I don't want it! - and I want to be like I was, before! Look at me!" The figure screamed, gesturing to his suit and tie. "I'm almost human, for crying out loud! Bring my Self back to what it was!"
The silence that followed was broken only by the red figure's breathing slowing.
Janemba didn't smile. His expression didn't change.
Instead, he put out his hand, his long, clawed fingers extended in a non-threatening position.
The figure's eyes widened, before he grabbed the hand, and lost his soul.
Well, I think I gave more than enough hints to help you guys figure out who the figure is. On the other hand, this adds a whole new level of trouble for the people intending to fight these guys. Please note that the Saga page has not been updated, so don't bother checking it for new stuff, as that raises Bandwidth. Keep checking the forums, and keep training, as this Saga will definetely be a doozy!
