Gohan is the son of Goku and ChiChi. He gets to be one of the strongest fighters ever. He started out as a wuss because ChiChi is way over protective. He was such a wuss that he was scared of a turtle. When Piccolo took him to train, he got less whimpy every day and soom became a strong worrior. Being mixed between Saiyan and Human makes him ultamateley stronger than bieng pure Saiyan or Human. He has the potenial to become the most powerful being in the entire universe.Though he is really strong, he doesn't have the love for fighting that Goku does (my guess is that ChiChi has a LOT to do with it).
