1 - Ext - Ally way, off a street/road - Franklin (poor side of Seaville) - Day

Fade in...

Three year old CORA DAVIS is sitting in the shadows of the ally way alone.
A figure walks past it is none other than UN ZASEKI, he stops as he hears Cora’s crying. Un Zaseki is dressed in a traditional white gi, he has a blue amulet round his neck in the form of half of the ying yang symbol the small circle colored green.
Un Zaseki walks up to Cora and he kneels down in front of her and he looks at her crying and she looks at him behind a tear streaked face.

UN ZASEKI
What seems to be the matter?
Why are you crying.

His voice is elderly and kind.

Cora looks up at Un Zaseki and she sniffles sadly and wipes her tears away wit the back of her hand trying to put on a brave face.

CORA
My parents left me in their car and they didn’t come back.

Un Zaseki looks at Cora with sympathy.

UN ZASEKI
So what’s your name maybe I can help you find other members of your family?

CORA
I aaaaaaaaaammmmmmm Cora Davis! Who are you?

UN ZASEKI
My name is Un Zaseki.

Cora giggles softly.

CORA
What a funny sounding name and what silly clothes.

UN ZASEKI
I’m glad you find my clothes amusing, it’s called a gi.
And I wear it because I’m a sensei at a local dojo.

Cora blinks and she looks confused (she is after all only three)

CORA
What’s a sensu? And a dogo?

Un Zaseki laughs slightly.

UN ZASEKI
A sensei is a teacher and a dojo is a scared training hall.

Un Zaseki pick Cora up off the ground of the alley way and she clings on to him as he lifts her up and she looks round.

CORA
Where are we going?

UN ZASEKI
We’re going to find your family.

CORA
KAY!!!

Un Zaskei flinches at the loud level of noise Cora seems to have.

2 - Ext - Park - Whitmore (Rich side of Seaville) - Day

Three year old Vashti Jones is sitting on a swing next to her mother (SARAH JONES) who is also on a swing. While Vashti’s father (BRANDON JONES) is pushing her on the swing. A White BMW is parked in the distance. The Park’s garden is in full bloom showing the true beauty of spring while Vashti’s laugher rings out through the park. Everything seem to be in a state of perfection...
Except for the four men who move through the bushes behind the swings they are unseen by the family enjoying the spring afternoon with a picnic.

SARAH
Brandon, shouldn’t you go get the picnic blanket and basket?
The swings won’t walk off. Vashti can wait. But I know your stomach can’t...

Brandon rubs the back of his neck sheepishly and he sweatdrops. He kisses Vashti on the top of the forehead.

BRANDON
Daddy will be back shortly okay sweetie?

Vashti nods silently, Brandon kisses Sarah and smiles at her. He laughs.

BRANDON
You know my stomach better than you know me...

SARAH
(scolding)
Brandon!! Go on we’ll be fine.

BRANDON
(laughing)
I’m a goin’ I’m a goin’

Brandon jogs off to their white BMW in the distance and opens the door and begins to get the food out.

Sarah gets up and she starts pushing Vashti on the swings, while watching Brandon muck around the car looking obviously for the picnic blanket. Sarah shakes her head lightly, laughing softly at her husbands foolishness.

The four men step out of the bushes from behind Sarah and Vashti

1ST MAN
(slyly)
Hey there lovely lady!

Sarah spins round and sees the four men. She stands protectively in front of Vashti holding the sides of the swing Vashti is on. Vashti turns round and looks at the men confused.

SARAH
What do you want?

The four men look at each other and they grin wildly.

2ND MAN
Your money or your life!

SARAH
(boldly)
You can’t have either!

The third man shakes his head mockingly at Sarah.

3RD MAN
Then we’ll just take your daughter

SARAH
NEVER! I won’t let my daughter be touched by riff raff!!

The fourth man chuckles, then looks at Sarah.

4TH MAN
(mockingly)
Did you hear that we’re riff raff??

1ST MAN
GET HER!!!

The four men team up on Sarah and knock her to the ground heating her up. Vashti looks at her fallen mother and she starts to cry. The men hear Brandon shout at them.

BRANDON
(off)
HEY YOU LOT LEAVE HER ALONE!!!

They look up and the first man grabs Sarah’s money in her pocket and Vashti jumps of the swings and runs to her father the fourth man attempts to grab her and Vashti kicks him swift and hard in the shin.

4TH MAN
(running off)
You little brat!!!

The four men are running off in the distance. Brandon runs to Vashti and he scoops her up in his arm. He runs to Sarah’s fallen body. Vashti is still crying softly clinging to her father. Brandon holds his daughter close to him.

VASHTI
(crying)
They hurt mommy...

BRANDON
Shhh sweetie, we’ll do our best for mommy I promise.

Vashit puts her arms round her father’s neck and buries her head in to his shoulder. Brandon with a free arm pulls out his cell phone from his pocket and he dials the emergency number.
