"Dragonball", Toriyama's second manga turned TV series, was an extremely successful show which spawned 3 movies and two additional TV series. It is based on an ancient Chinese folk tale about a monkey boy (Goku), a three-eyed god (Tenshinhan), and a desert bandit (Yamcha). With it's fairly recent release on American TV, Dragonball has become one of the most popular animated series of all time.

Dragonball
The first anime based on Toriyama's manga, it lasts until the battle with Piccolo Daimao ends. It isn't as action packed as the next two series but is a hilarious series.

Dragonball Z
When the first series ended it's run on TV, the manga was still being produced by Toriyama. Wanting to tap into the comic's success, a new series was created known as "Dragonball Z," which continued the story of Goku and his awesome adventures.

Dragonball GT
When Toriyama finally ended his massive manga, the TV executives decided to go on without him. Dragonball GT proved to be a moderately successful series, but by this time Dragonball had become stale in Japan, and it ended relatively early.
