The First Tournament
There wasn’t a cloud in the sky as the trio of Leth, Gilgamesh, and Saiyaness passed through the gates of the Tenkaichi Budokai. Master Roshi caught up to the youngsters and pointed out the sign up booth. “That is where you three will need to sign up.” A dense crowd was gathered around the tables, monks in orange robes were signing people up as quickly as possible. The youngest of the group grinned “Thanks old man!” Gilgamesh exclaimed, as he walked off toward the table, his brown tail swaying behind him, out the hole in the back of his orange Kame-Senin gi.
Saiyaness and Leth each had the same attire as Gilgamesh, since the three of them had trained together for the past eight months with Master Roshi. “We really appreciate you training us.” Leth said, he and Saiyaness bowing their heads, their tails wrapped neatly around their waists. Saiyaness’ long red hair draped down over her face as she bowed, revealing the pale skin on the back of her neck. Leth’s skin was slightly darker, he had medium length black hair with blue tips, down to just above his shoulders. “Think nothing of it” the master replied, trying his best to stare down the front of Saiyaness’ gi. “It was a…pleasure.” he added, laughing perversely.
Saiyaness’ eyebrow’s shifted as she glanced up with her blue eye’s to catch Master Roshi staring. Her eye right twitched as she stood straight up and punched her master on the side of his face, sending him flying out the entrance and into the taxi the four had arrived in. “I should have worn an undershirt” she said to a grinning Leth, whose gray eye’s were doing the same as Roshi’s a few minute’s earlier. “Let’s go sign up” she ordered, still angry about their perverted teacher.
Gilgamesh pushed his way to the front of the line, his blue eyes staring at one of the monks “I’m signing up” the boy announced, brushing back his light purple hair. “Uh, okay, I’ll need your name and age.” Gilgamesh nodded “I’m Gilgamesh, and I am ten years old.” the monk finished writing down his name “Okay, wait for an announcement over the loudspeaker for the next stage of the tournament.” Gilgamesh had already left the table and was weaving through the crowd.
“Saiyaness, 16. Leth, 17. Got it” the monk said, writing their names down on the forms. The two halfbreeds were already moving through the crowd to join Gilgamesh in the square. Leth brushed up against a creature with two black horns on the top of his head “Watch where you’re going” the monster hissed. “Calm down Hybreed.” a namek said “He should know better than to get in the way of an Icer.” the monster added, pushing his way through the line and to the front. “What a creep.” Leth thought as they joined up with Gilgamesh.
Half an hour had passed, and the three were still waiting for the announcement. The crowd around the table was completely gone now, the last person had just signed up, a tiny namek, still wearing the robes given to him back on his home world. “He looks like he’s fresh off the pod” Leth mentioned to a nodding Saiyaness. “Alright, can all participants please form three lines behind the designated monks to test your fighting power.” A voice ordered over the speaker system.
The massive group of fighters stampeded over to the monks, forming three single file lines. Being the kid he is, Gilgamesh ran as fast as he could to get first in one of the lines, thinking it would make him more special, or some other childish reason. Gilgamesh, Saiyaness, and Leth were all in the middle line, Gilgamesh glanced left and right. A human with long, brown, curly hair wearing a pair of jeans and white tank top was to the right of him. He had a deep tan, light blue eyes, and pearly teeth. The Icer that got into the tiff with Leth, a bit earlier, was to the left. He had a dark red coloration on the top of his head, where most Icer’s have the dark purple. The skin tone on his face, hands and feet was a light purple. His arms, legs and the majority of his tail was a light pinkish color, with the tip of his tail being a dark red, like the spot on his forehead. The Icer’s chest looked like it was covered in white plates, but it was just his normal skin, the same plates also covered his forearms and ankles. In the center of his chest, there was a large bulb, like the one on his forehead.
A monk stepped up to the top of a ladder and held a loudspeaker to his lips “The eight people that record the highest scores on the punching bags, will get into the tournament. The bags are designed to measure your fighting power, thus determining the eight most worthy fighters here.” curses rose up from the three lines, most were obviously wishing to crack skull, instead of hitting a bag to determine who makes it in. “Normally, one spot would be reserved for the previous champion, but he seems to have fallen off the face of the Earth, no one can find him.”
The three monks at the front of each line, stepped up to each punching bag, they pulled their fist’s back and punched into them “15’s across the board” the monk with the loudspeaker announced “That is their fighting powers. Once you have your level’s recorded, please return to the sign up area to wait for the finalists to be announced.” The three people at the beginning of each line stepped forward to the bags. The human with brown hair was first to punch “Miguelito with a score of 128” a monk reported to the one writing down the scores.
The icer punched next “123 for Hybreed” Gilgamesh pulled his fist back and slammed it against the bag as hard as he could “130 for Gilgamesh” the monk announced. “Are we sure these bags work?” one of the monks whispered to another. The next wave of competitors stepped up and punched “12, 26, and 19 for Tom, Dick, and Harry” a monk announced. “I guess they do….”
“All scores under 40 since that first group” one of the monks said. “Aydin with a score of 107” a monk announced. Leth stepped up, noticing Aydin was the Namek calming Hybreed, earlier. The namek had light green skin and was wearing a purple gi with an orange belt. Leth grinned and crushed the bag with his fist “119 for Leth” the monk reported. The halfbreed nodded as he walked with the namek back to the waiting area.
“Morach with a score of 112” a monk reported. The namek turned away from the punching bag and joined up with Miguelito, whom was waiting for him. “Nice man” the human said to the nodding namek. His skin was slightly darker than Aydin’s, and he wore a white gi with a red belt. “Saiyaness with a score of 98” the monk reported. Leth turned his head back and smiled as Saiyaness was rushing to walk with him. “Magus with a score of 68” a monk announced. A child walked away from the bag, grinning widely. He had black hair with streaks of purple mixed in and brown eyes. He wore a black gi with his brown tail as a belt.
“Larry, Curly, Moe with scores of 11,13, and 15. Shemp with a score of 35.” a monk reported “Beavis and Butt head with scores of 46 and 43” another monk added. The small namek, that was last to register stepped up to the bag and punched as hard as he could. “Pikoron with a score of 65” the namek’s head slumped, knowing he was barely beaten out by Magus.
The sign up area filled with swear words as fighters began comparing their scores. Leth, Gilgamesh, and Saiyaness were all smiles as they informed others of their scores. “Maybe if you all weren’t pathetic humans, you could begin to compare to me and Aydin.” a shrill voice announced. Hybreed tripped a crowd of humans with his long tail. His namek companion chose not to get involved with this spat. “I could kill every single one of you right now.” Hybreed claimed “But I would be disqualified, so maybe I’ll pay you guys a visit after the tourney.” Morach and Miguelito frowned as they stepped between the icer and the weaker humans.
“You need to cut that shit out” Miguelito ordered. “There is no need for this situation to get taken further.” Morach added. Aydin stepped up to Hybreed’s side and glared at his fellow namek. Just as conflict seemed imminent, an announcement came over the loudspeaker “We have our finalists. Going from lowest to highest in scoring; Magus, Saiyaness, Aydin, Morach, Leth, Hybreed, Miguelito, and Gilgamesh. Would those finalists please make their way to the fighting arena. The rest of you, you don’t have to go home, but you can’t stay here.” Groans lifted up throughout the crowd.
Saiyaness, Leth, and Gilgamesh made their way to the fighting arena. At the back end of the ring, there was a monk, motioning for them to head into the room behind him. The three stepped into the room to see Magus sitting at a table in the corner. There was a bulletin board behind the announcer of the tournament, who was wearing the ceremonial announcing attire of a black suit, sunglasses, and a tacky tie. There were eight slots for the eight fighters. Magus had apparently already drawn a number, and was slotted in at number eight.
“Let’s take our numbers” Leth said, he and Saiyaness walking to the drawing box. “You guys go ahead” Gilgamesh said “I have to take a crap.” the boy ran to the corner opposite Magus, through the door to find a bathroom.
Saiyaness reached into the box first “I got number two” she said, handing it to the helper monk. The monk smiled and he pinned up a piece of paper with her name on it into the number two slot. Leth pulled out the number five, and the monk pinned his name under the fifth slot. A heavenly aroma wafted into their nostrils and the two halfbreeds turned their gaze to the back corner, where Magus was sitting. “That little turd was holding out on us?” Saiyaness asked before the two raced to the table, where Magus was gorging himself on a large plate of barbeque chicken.
Hybreed and Aydin stepped into the room next and made their way to the drawing area. “Hybreed with number four” the monk said, putting his name up. “Aydin with number six” the namek turned around and stared at Leth, chomping on a buffalo wing. “Lucky you” Hybreed said, sighing “I was hoping I would get the chance to wipe the floor with him.”
Miguelito and Morach stepped in. “Looks like we’re fashionably late” Morach whispered to his comrade. Gilgamesh stepped out of the bathroom, tying his black belt to keep his pants from falling down. “My poop didn’t want to cooperate with me” he declared as he reached into the box, stunning the monk’s and announcer. Gilgamesh grinned and pulled out his number “Third slot for the disgusting boy” the monk announced. Miguelito and Morach gulped as they stepped up to the box “Think he washed his hands?” Morach asked. “There’s two numbers left” the monk said “How about the green guy gets the first slot, and curly here gets the seventh seed?” the two nodded “Fine by me” they each said.
“Okay then! Here are the matches for the tournament!” The announcer shouted “In the first fight, we have Morach vs. Saiyaness! In the second match, it’s Gilgamesh vs. Hybreed! In the third match, we have Leth vs. Aydin! And in the final fight, Miguelito vs. Magus!” The fighters stared at their opponents while the announcer combed back his brown hair.
“Now, here are the rules; You lose the match if you fall out of the ring, or say ‘uncle’. No killing, no weapons and no eye gouging. You are also not allowed to hit in the vital area’s” The announcer motioned hitting himself in the groin. Magus and Gilgamesh looked at him, questioningly. “Vital area’s?” Magus blurted out. “He mean’s your ball’s.” Hybreed replied, drawing giggles from Gilgamesh and Magus. “I don’t think Saiyaness has tho-” Gilgamesh started to say, but was interrupted by the announcer. “Okay, that’s enough. Prepare yourselves in any way you want, just get out into the ring when your name is called.” The announcer stepped out of the room and into the sunlight, to get the crowd excited.
“Hey! Mister!” Gilgamesh said, tugging on the arm of a monk “Is there any food?” The monk looked down and shook his head “I’m sorry, that group over there has the last plate of chicken. Gilgamesh darted his gaze over to the table with Leth, Magus, and Saiyaness. Gilgamesh sighed as a voice came over the loudspeaker. “In the first fight of the day, we have Morach going against Saiyaness!” Saiyaness jumped up and wiped the barbeque sauce off her face “Good luck, Sai!” Leth shouted as he ripped a piece of meat off the last piece of chicken.
Miguelito and Morach pounded their fists together “I want to go against you in the finals, so don’t lose” Miguelito said to his green-skinned friend. The namek nodded as he and Saiyaness stepped out into the ring. “These two are both fighting in their first tournaments!” the announcer shouted into the mike. The two warriors went to opposite sides of the ring. “Saiyaness vs. Morach, Fight!”
Morach went into action, running at his female opponent. Saiyaness held her hands at her sides “Kame Hame Ha!” She cried, thrusting her palms forward and releasing the bright blue beam of light. Morach’s eyes widened and he jumped high into the air as the beam shot underneath him and over the crowd of people before disappearing in the distance. Saiyaness grinned and jumped at the namek, kicking him deep in the stomach, sending him flying over the crowd of people.
Saiyaness landed softly on the ground and continued smiling until she saw Morach hovering over the crowd. “He can fly?” she asked herself as Morach turned around and floated back to the ring. “An amazing technique!” the announcer cried “to think a person would be able to fly!” the crowd gasped and Morach landed in the ring. “You know a powerful ki technique” the namek said, his eyes staring at the tail swaying behind Saiyaness “You’re a halfbreed, I guess it makes sense ” Morach smiled and got into his fighting stance. “Yes, I am” Saiyaness said, a smirk returning to her face.
Saiyaness blurred, leaving an after image where she was standing “After image!” Miguelito shouted. Morach nodded and spun around, elbowing Saiyaness in the face, and sending her to the ground. The halfbreed began to jump up, to continue, when Morach thrust his palm at her, sending a violent burst of wind out. Saiyaness’ hair was blown back and her eyes closed from the force. Saiyaness couldn’t keep her grip and went flying through the air and to the ground outside the ring. Morach smiled “Winner, Morach!” the crowd oohed and awed. “Another spectacular technique displayed by this green warrior!”
Saiyaness hunched her shoulders and slumped her head, as she climbed into the ring. “Keep training” Morach said “Master your technique on the Kame Hame Ha wave, then form some skills on your own” he added. Saiyaness looked up at the namek and nodded. “It’s alright Sai!” Leth shouted, clapping. Morach and Saiyaness stepped into the back and heard a violent growl. “I’m so hungry…” Gilgamesh moaned, holding his stomach. “In our next match, the youngster Gilgamesh goes against Hybreed!”
“Remember, no killing” Aydin said to Hybreed. The Icer nodded and stepped out into the ring. Gilgamesh frowned and slowly stepped out into the light. Hybreed was already standing in his spot “hurry up, runt!” the icer shouted. Gilgamesh glared at Hybreed, then started walking to his spot “Just hold out for the match” the boy said, responding to his stomach’s growling. Gilgamesh got to his spot, smiled then pointed at Hybreed “My tail’s cooler than yours!” he shouted, stroking his soft brown tail. Hybreed shook his head “I’ll crush you.”
“Okay, Okay, fighters ready? Gilgamesh vs. Hybreed, fight!” The two warriors rushed at each other, Gilgamesh pounded his fist into Hybreed’s face, knocking the icer backwards. Hybreed stumbled back, but caught his balance “That little bastard!” Hybreed exclaimed as he wiped some blood away from his mouth. Gilgamesh cracked his knuckles and raced at Hybreed again, punching at the icer’s face. Hybreed caught the halfbreed’s fist in his palm and squeezed. The icer yanked Gilgamesh up against his body, then wrapped his arms around the boy.
Gilgamesh was in a bear hug, and wasn’t able to break free. Hybreed and Gilgamesh were face to face and the Icer was grinning widely. “Please don’t die, now, kid” Hybreed said as his eyes began glowing a bright yellow. Sparks of electricity dazzled around the icer’s horns then shot down into Gilgamesh’s body, forcing a scream from the boy’s mouth. “What an attack!” The announcer shouted “the ring is filled with bright light, coming out of Gilgamesh’s eyes, ears, and mouth!” Gilgamesh grimaced and leaned his face forward, then bit down on Hybreed’s nose.
Hybreed cried out in pain and released his grip on the halfbreed. The flow of electricity stopped as the icer swatted Gilgamesh to the opposite side of the ring. “What a punk!” Hybreed roared, holding his left hand up to his face, to try and stop the blood from pouring out. Gilgamesh laughed and spat the tip of Hybreed’s nose to the ground. “ouch!” the announcer exclaimed “In a move that would make Mike Tyson proud, Gilgamesh has bitten off Hybreed’s nose!” Gilgamesh nodded as his stomach groaned “I’ll finish this!” the halfbreed shouted, running at the Icer.
Hybreed glared at the running halfbreed and aimed his right index and middle finger’s at Gilgamesh. “Dodonpa!” the Icer shouted. A thin red beam shot out and against Gilgamesh’s chest. The blast tore open Gilgamesh’s gi and he fell back against the stone ring. Gilgamesh’s bare chest was scorched and bleeding. Hybreed ran forward and grabbed Gilgamesh’s tail. The Icer swung his small opponent around, then tossed him outside the ring. “Winner, Hybreed!” Two men in white ran up and put Gilgamesh on a stretcher, then raced him to the medical room.
Hybreed stepped into the back “Well, at least he isn’t dead” Aydin said. Hybreed stared down at the tip of his nose in his palm. “I should have killed that asshole. He better pray I don’t run into him again.” Hybreed held the tip of his nose up to the wound and pressed it in. The skin bonded together and a voice came on over the loudspeaker. “In the third match of the day, we have Aydin Fighting Leth!” Hybreed glanced at Aydin. “Give him hell, Namek.” Hybreed said as his friend walked out into the sunlight. Leth cracked his knuckles and followed after, his tail dragging on the ground.
“How can you be friends with that guy?” Leth asked as he and Aydin walked to the center of the ring. “I was his friend before he turned evil. I won’t abandon our friendship just because he’s evil now.” Leth stared at the namek and shook his head “The kid he just beat was a friend of mine, so I’ll be getting some revenge for him in this fight.” Leth said as he took a few paces backwards. Aydin nodded “fair enough” the namek replied, as he backed up as well. “Aydin vs. Leth, fight!”
Leth and Aydin charged at each other, each punching the other in the face, and stumbling back. They each spat on the ring. “The kid and I trained with Master Roshi for eight months, what kind of training do you have?” Leth asked. Aydin shrugged “I’ve sparred with Hybreed for several years. Before that, we trained in Master Shen’s Crane school.” Leth nodded “Let‘s see if your training prepared you for this!” Leth held his palms at his side and began forming a blue ki ball. “Kame Hame Ha!” Leth aimed his hands at Aydin and fired off the wave.
Aydin smiled and flew into the air, where he hovered as the beam disappeared over the horizon. “I do know how to fly” the namek laughed. Leth laughed back, sarcastically, and created an after image. Aydin tilted his head then felt a great pain in his back. Leth dug his fist deep into Aydin’s back and wrapped his other arm around the namek’s neck. “Ooh! It looks like Leth has Aydin in a headlock!” the announcer exclaimed. Leth began punching Aydin in the face while he was still trapped in his lock.
Blood dribbled down out of Aydin’s nose as he slapped the back of his hand against Leth’s mouth. The namek pushed up with his hand, forcing Leth’s head back by the nose. The halfbreed released his grip and jumped back. Leth breathed deeply “Let’s try this again” the halfbreed put his hands down at his sides and began charging again. “Kame Hame…” Leth used an after image. Aydin twitched and spun around, swiping through another after image. “Then where!?” Aydin snarled. “Ha!” Leth exclaimed, letting loose the blast of ki into Aydin’s back.
Aydin screamed in pain as he was launched through the air and into the ground outside the ring. “Winner is Leth!” The announcer hollered. The crowd roared with approval and Leth raised his arm in victory. Smoke rose up from Aydin as he stood up. The namek’s purple gi was shredded and he jumped into the ring, then walked into the back. Aydin was gasping for air during the short walk. When he got into the back, Aydin sat against the wall and closed his eyes while gasping. “You and your friend are dead if I see you after today” Hybreed muttered as he and Leth came face to face. “Sod off” Leth said as he turned his back to the enraged Icer. “In the final match of the first round, we have Miguelito going against Magus!”
Magus jumped to his feet and patted his stomach while he wrapped his brown tail around his waist. “Good luck!” Magus exclaimed as looked up to the much taller opponent. Miguelito nodded his head “do your best against me, kid” the human said as he brushed his long, brown hair behind his shoulders. The two fighters walked out into the light together and got into position. “Magus is the youngest fighter participating in this year’s tournament, at ten years old. He beats out Gilgamesh by three weeks.” The announcer said in a matter of fact way. “Okay, let’s get the match started. Fighter’s ready? Fight!”
“Why doesn’t the audience get to know anything about me?” Miguelito asked himself as Magus ran forward and punched the human in the stomach. Miguelito doubled over from the impact, and Magus hit Miguelito in the face with a knee. Miguelito fell back and landed on his butt. The human’s eyes widened as Magus jumped up and kicked at Miguelito’s face. The human jumped up, dodging the kick, he then smacked Magus across the face with the back of his hand. Magus was spinning and was dazed from the strike. “I’ll end this quick, kid.” Miguelito said, chopping across the back of the halfbreed’s neck.
Magus fell onto his face and Miguelito pointed to the announcer “Start the count” Miguelito ordered. The announcer nodded and began counting. “One….Two….Three” Miguelito smiled and the crowd began cheering louder. “Four…Five…Six….Seven” Miguelito cracked his knuckles and began thinking of his next opponent. “Leth definitely has some skills, he could be a tough opponent.” Miguelito glanced down at the unconscious boy. “Eight…Nine…Ten.. The Winner is Miguelito!” The human held his hand high in the air and played to the crowd.
“Today’s fighting is over, but be sure to come back tomorrow to watch the second round, and finals!” The crowd was chanting Miguelito’s name as they left the arena to rest up for the next day. The announcer stepped into the back “Great job today, guy’s. There will be a party for Tournament participants and staff a little later in the conference room. You’re all welcome to attend.”
Gilgamesh sat up and looked down at his bandaged chest. “You fought well, Gilgamesh” a familiar voice said. Gilgamesh glanced up at Master Roshi. “When you’re ready to continue your journey, I’ll give you a tip.” Gilgamesh nodded and jumped down from the bed to stand near his master. “I’m ready, sir.” Master Roshi nodded his head “I expected as much. You should head west, into the land of Korin. There you will find a tribe of natives at the base of the tower. Meet with them and then decide your next course of action.”
Leth put his arm over Saiyaness’ shoulder’s “Let’s go visit Gil” he said. Saiyaness nodded “I hope he’s alright now” she replied. Hybreed stared down at Aydin, who was now unconscious. The icer kicked him “get up, Namek.” he said. Aydin opened his eyes and pushed himself up, then leaned on Hybreed as the two walked out of the room to go rest up. “Should we stick around for the party?” Miguelito asked his green friend. Morach shook his head “I’m not really into parties.” he replied. “Okay, let’s get some rest for tomorrow.” The two friends floated in the air and flew back to their hotel. “So I guess that means it’s just me at the party, again?” The announcer asked into his microphone.
Saiyaness pushed aside the flap of the large medical tent. A few of the people that didn’t make the cut into the tournament were still laying in beds. Gilgamesh was standing up, wearing a new orange gi that Master Roshi had given him. The boy turned to greet his friends as the walked toward him. Leth and Saiyaness could see his bandaged chest underneath the orange uniform. “Hey, I beat up that guy’s friend for you. And tomorrow I’ll get him in the finals.” Leth said, forming a fist. Gilgamesh nodded “Thanks… I could have got him myself if you two didn’t hog all the food.” The two bigger halfbreeds glared at him “You’re not the only one that likes to eat.” they both said at the same time.
“Get some sleep” Hybreed said, moving away from Aydin and allowing him to fall on the grass. “We’ll wake up early in the morning to get in some light exercises to prepare me for my fights.” Aydin smiled “Sure…” he said as he passed out. Hybreed nodded and dropped onto his back, then looked up into the night sky. “I’ll destroy Morach tomorrow, then crush Leth, or the human in the finals.” Thoughts of destruction filled Hybreed’s head as he passed into sleep.
“If you handle the Icer tomorrow, then we’ll meet in the finals” Miguelito said to his friend. “Aren’t you a bit worried about Miguelito?” Morach asked. The human shook his head “I was, but he won’t be a major problem.” The two friends sat at the table in their room. “I’m going to get in some meditation before bed” the namek said, walking over to his bed. “Okay, I’ll hit the hay then. Don’t make too much noise.” Miguelito responded as he walked over to his bed and pulled himself under the sheets.
“Good luck in your match, tomorrow, Leth” Gilgamesh said as he tied his belt around his waist. “You’re not sticking around?” the tall halfbreed asked. Gil shook his head “Nah, I should start heading to Korin as soon as possible.” Saiyaness smiled down at him “Okay, Good luck, kid!” She patted him on the head, then Leth punched Gil on the arm “Don’t get into too much trouble” Gilgamesh smiled, nodded then ran out of the tent. “So, Saiyaness…” Master Roshi started to say, while making obscene hand gestures “Please say you’ll be coming home with me tomorrow, heh heh heh.” Saiyaness frowned and uppercut Master Roshi through the tent’s ceiling. “How did I train with that guy for eight months?” she asked a smiling Leth. “Let’s go back to the hotel, Sai.” Leth said, while Roshi was still high in the air.
A cold breeze wafted down across the ring and Magus’ eyes slowly opened. The sky was cloudy and Magus yawns while he sat up. “You mean I was knocked out and no one bothered to wake me up?” he asked himself as he stood up. The boy shook his head “I have to get back to training, I guess.” Magus stretched his legs, then ran off toward the ocean.
Gilgamesh ran through the darkened streets of Papaya Island, feeling the cold breeze on his face was refreshing. Out the corner of the halfbreed’s eye, Gilgamesh spotted a large apple tree. “Alright!” he thought as he changed course and sprinted to the tree. Gilgamesh jumped up and plucked three apples before descending to the ground. The boy chomped viciously into one of the apples “Mmmm, it’s so good” he said, his voice muffled by the chewing.
Magus ran up a grassy hill in the darkness. Unable to see very far in front of him, Magus made it to the top, and immediately tripped over the tail of Hybreed. “Hey!” the icer shouted, sitting straight up. Magus tumbled head over heels down the opposite side of the hill he had climbed up.
“Hey!” Gilgamesh heard a shout to his left and glanced over to see a tumbling Magus heading right for him. Gil’s eyes grew wide as he jumped out of the way and took a big bite out of another apple. Magus slammed his back against the tree, causing two apples to fall into his lap. “Oh, these look good” the boy said, picking one up. “You think you can get away with waking me up?” a voice shouted from above. The two small halfbreeds looked up as Hybreed started floating down from the sky.
Hybreed glanced over at Gilgamesh, who was finishing off the third apple. “This is great” Hybreed said, grinning “I get a two for one, tonight.” Gilgamesh patted his stomach “A rematch then?” the purple headed halfbreed asked. “It’ll be another massacre” Hybreed stated calmly. Magus picked up an apple and took a big bite as Hybreed and Gilgamesh darted at each other.
Gilgamesh ducked a punch from Hybreed, then kicked the icer in the stomach. The impact forced Hybreed back along the ground. Hybreed rolled backward and to his feet as Gilgamesh rushed forward again. The icer spun around, slamming his tail against the side of Gilgamesh’s face. The halfbreed spun around as he stumbled back. “Dodonpa!” Hybreed shouted, firing a red beam from his right hand.
The blast shot through Gilgamesh’s after image “What?” Hybreed asked himself. “Kame Hame Ha!” the icer turned his head in time to see a blue beam of light slam against his back and propel him into the middle of the street. Smoke rose up from the icer as he lay unconscious in the street. Gilgamesh smiled and scratched his nose as he glanced down at Magus, who was still eating. “Hi, I’m Gil” the standing halfbreed said. Magus nodded and swallowed “Name’s Magus.”
Gilgamesh jumped up and grabbed another two apples. He landed and tucked them both into his gi. “How did you do those moves?” Magus asked. Gilgamesh smiled “I trained with the Turtle Hermit a little while ago. If you want to learn, just start going that way.” Gilgamesh pointed in the direction of Master Roshi’s island, then waved to Magus. “Good luck finding his house. I have to get going” Gilgamesh turned and started running to the docks. Magus smiled and started eating his other apple while imagining himself firing a Kame Hame Ha into a mountain “I’m going to be so cool” he thought as he took another bite.
The sun was shining brightly on Papaya island, signifying the beginning of the second day in the Tenkaichi Budokai. Hybreed’s eyes opened abruptly and he jumped to his feet, looking back to the apple tree. “Damn them” he shouted, forming a fist. Aydin was walking down the hill, rubbing his eyes. “Let’s get going” Hybreed ordered, angrily. The two floated into the air and rocketed off to the tournament.
Morach and Miguelito were stretching in the back room “Leth knows the Kame Hame Ha, and After Image techniques.” Morach said, while stretching his arms. Miguelito nodded and cracked his knuckles “No biggie” the human said, staring at his semi-finals opponent. Leth was hitting a punching bag, while Saiyaness was reading a magazine to him.
“It says here that they have military bases all over the world. Their army has been growing incredibly large over the past four months.” Saiyaness set the magazine down as Leth stopped punching “It doesn’t matter now. I have to concentrate on the fight” Leth said. Sai nodded as Hybreed and Aydin appeared in the entrance.
“Hey you crazy fans! Are you Ready!?” The announcer screamed into the microphone. “We have some great matches for you today! The first fight is Morach vs. Hybreed, followed up by Leth and Miguelito duking it out!” The crowd roared in anticipation. “Okay, let’s get this party started!” In the back room, Morach was stretching his arms while Hybreed was glaring at him. “No killing” Aydin reminded. “I know” Hybreed replied, stepping toward the exit into the ring.
“Take him out” Miguelito said, giving his friend the thumbs up “Then we can fight in the finals” Morach took a deep breath, exhaled, then started to the ring. “In the first match of the semi finals, Morach and Hybreed will go at it in a battle of non-humans.” Hybreed and Morach got to their designated starting locales and glared at one another. “So Let’s get this party started! Morach vs. Hybreed! Fight!” Hybreed aimed his right hand at the namek and immediately fired “Dodonpa!” the icer shouted.
Morach rolled to the left, avoiding the powerful blast. The namek finished the roll and jumped to his feet, only to be punched in the stomach, knocking the green man back. Morach thrust his fist up toward the Icer’s face, only to have it caught, then crushed in Hybreed’s palm. Morach let out a scream as Hybreed sent electricity into his opponent for the second straight fight. “Once again, Hybreed uses his electric attack. It’s really shocking for his opponent!” the announcer reported into the microphone.
Morach attack with his free hand, swiping at the Icer’s face. Hybreed tilted his head in time, but Morach sliced a deep gash into the side of the Icer’s face. Blood streamed out of the wound and Hybreed stopped the flow of electricity. Hybreed pulled his free fist back and prepared to punch. Morach struck down on the icer’s arm that was crushing his hand, with an elbow, and forced Hybreed to relinquish his grip.
Morach jumped up and spun around before kicking Hybreed in the chest with a strong kick. Hybreed stumbled back and the namek gave chase. The icer spun around and slammed his powerful tail against the side of Morach’s stomach. The namek let out a low grunt as he was pushed against the wall leading into the back room. Hybreed moved his tail away and thrust his hand against the Namek’s throat, digging his nails into the green skin. Morach’s blood began to trickle down over Hybreed’s fingers and onto the ring.
A devilish grin appeared on Hybreed’s face as he slammed his left elbow against Morach’s face. Blood spurted out onto Hybreed’s face, the icer then felt a powerful kick to his abdomen. Hybreed released his grip on the namek’s neck, allowing Morach to flee to the other side of the ring. Hybreed rubbed his stomach as Morach stared on through a bruised and bloodied face with blurred vision.
Blood drained down from Morach’s forehead and into his eyes, causing his vision to get even worse. The namek raised his left hand to wipe the blood away. Hybreed used that moment to his advantage. The icer streaked across the ring and kicked into Morach’s stomach. The force sent Morach flying through the air outside the ring. Morach caught himself in the air near the crowd, but Hybreed raced over and drove his elbow deep into the namek’s stomach.
A stream of blood splashed out of Morach’s mouth before he slammed against the ground outside the ring. “The winner is Hybreed! He moves onto the Finals!” the crowd cheered for the powerful villain as he spat on the unconscious namek before walking into the back. Miguelito glared at Hybreed for a moment, then ran out to visit with his friend. Two men in white raced over to the wounded alien and scooped him onto a stretcher. “Take good care of him.” Miguelito ordered as the men disappeared into the back, toward the medical area.
Miguelito started breathing deeply and stood in the middle of the ring, awaiting his opponent. “In the final match of the Semi finals, we have Miguelito going against Leth.” The announcer said, watching Miguelito huffing.
“Good luck, Leth!” Saiyaness cheered as the only halfbreed left in the tournament made his way into the ring. Miguelito was still fuming over the beating Morach received at the hands of Hybreed. The human was more than willing to take out his frustration on Leth. “Great! Leth and Miguelito are ready to battle! Leth vs. Miguelito! Fight!” the announcer could barely be heard over the roars in the crowd.
Miguelito streaked across the ring toward an unprepared Leth. The halfbreed took a step back as Miguelito threw a powerful punch aimed at Leth’s head. The punch only struck air, as Leth employed the after image to dodge at the last second. Miguelito immediately spun around and struck Leth across the side of his head with a powerful kick. The halfbreed spun around in the air and hit the ring hard.
Miguelito thrust his fist down at Leth, who rolled out of the way in time to avoid the devastating attack. The ring cracked where Miguelito’s fist hit. Leth spun around on the back of his neck, kicking Miguelito three times across the face before the human knew what hit him. Miguelito stumbled back as Leth jumped to his feet and started charging an attack. “Kame Hame Ha!” Leth shouted, launching his ki beam at a close distance.
Miguelito spun around to face Leth as the halfbreed fired off his Kame Hame Ha wave. Miguelito’s muscle’s tensed and the human let out a furious scream. Leth’s Kame Hame Ha exploded and the ring filled with a thick smoke. “Did I get him?” Leth asked, unable to see his opponent. Through the soot, a boot came flying at Leth’s face, striking the halfbreed head on and slamming him back against the ground.
Leth was laying on his back while Miguelito continued applying pressure to the halfbreed’s face. Miguelito aimed his palm at Leth’s stomach and fired off an orange ball that tore Leth’s gi apart before exploding. Miguelito moved away from his unconscious opponent “Start the count” the human ordered. The announcer nodded “One…Two…Three…Four…” there was a large wound in the middle of Leth’s stomach, it was badly burned and bloodied. “Five…Six…Seven…” Saiyaness heard the footsteps of the medical personnel coming up behind her. “Eight…Nine…Ten!” Miguelito moves on to the Tenkaichi Budokai Finals!” the crowd cheered violently, chanting the human’s name “Miguel-Ito! Miguel-Ito! Miguel-Ito!”
The men in white came rushing out and lifted Leth onto the stretcher, they lifted him up and raced to the medical area, escorted by Saiyaness. Miguelito walked into the back room to prepare for his match with the powerful Icer. “I hope you’re not as pathetic as that green friend of yours” Hybreed said, as the human walked out of view from the spectators. Miguelito turned his gaze onto Hybreed “Don’t you worry, monster. I’ve saved some special attacks, just for you.”
Morach sat up as Leth was brought into the room. The namek’s face was heavily bandaged, but he could see Saiyaness pull up a chair to Leth’s cot. “He should regain consciousness in a few hours” a doctor said, out of Morach’s sight. The namek pushed his legs over the side of the bed, preparing himself to leave the room. “See you around” Morach muttered, before exiting the room to go watch his friend in the final match.
“Alright!” the announcer shouted “We’ve made it to the final match of this year’s Tenkaichi Budokai!” the crowd cheered as Miguelito stepped out of the waiting room and into the sunlight. “Miguelito, ladies and gentlemen!” Hybreed crashed his tail against the ground when he heard the cheers “I’ll break him. Then take the glory.” he said aloud, stepping out to join the human. Morach stumbled into the waiting room and made his way toward the exit into the ring, to get a better view.
“Let the action begin! Miguelito vs. Hybreed! For the championship, Fight!” Miguelito breathed deeply and stared at the calm Icer. “You gonna make me pay?” Hybreed asked, giggling. “I will.” Miguelito responded, getting into fighting position. Hybreed stopped his laughter and started burrowing his tail into the ring. “Well, what kind of moves do you have?” the icer asked, trying to distract his opponent. “You’ll have to see for yourse-” Miguelito was cut off when Hybreed’s tail ripped up out of the ground and shot at him.
Miguelito leaned on one side, narrowly dodging the tail’s swipe. “Hmm, you’re one lucky fellow” Hybreed stated, retracting his tail. “I’ve killed several people with that very attack. Miguelito frowned “Just one more reason to beat you” Hybreed raised his right hand “Dodonpa!” the icer cried, firing the red beam at the human. Miguelito jumped into the air, avoiding the attack. Hybreed jumped up and flew at the human to begin a physical assault.
Hybreed brought his fist up into Miguelito’s stomach, forcing a stream of blood from the human’s mouth. Miguelito grimaced and brought his fists together, before slamming them across the side of Hybreed’s face. The icer spun around from the impact, striking Miguelito in the side with his tail, by accident. The two fell to the ground, but quickly made it to their feet to continue the fight. “how ‘bout this then..?” Miguelito asked between deep breaths.
Hybreed nodded his head and motioned for Miguelito to come at him “Fine then. Take your best shot, human.” Miguelito nodded and got in position for his strike. “Roga!” Miguelito shouted bringing his wrists together, before he started running at Hybreed “Fufu-ken!” Hybreed’s eyes widened “He became a wolf?” he wondered as Miguelito rushed at him.
Miguelito thrust several punches into Hybreed’s chest and face, knocking him back several paces. Hybreed’s eye twitched before he jumped high into the air to avoid Miguelito’s continuous assault. “You’re a coward!” Miguelito shouted up to the icer. Great pain ran throughout Hybreed’s body and he began lowering himself to the ground. Hybreed stared at his opponent and opened his mouth wide. A bright yellow light began glowing in his mouth “What is that?” Morach wondered from his close up vantage point.
A giant beam shot out of Hybreed’s mouth and toward Miguelito. The human frowned, formed a triangle with his hands and brought them up in front of his chest. Miguelito let out a furious scream and Hybreed’s beam exploded, filling the ring with thick smoke. Hybreed frowned “I know what’s next!” the icer shouted, firing another beam forward. The icer waited to hear the singing flesh of his opponent, but instead heard a shout from above “Taiyoken!” Hybreed looked up in time to get a full shot of light.
“Oh!” the announcer exclaimed “Miguelito has blinded everyone in the stadium!” Hybreed’s hands were against his eyes in agony “Damn you human!” he shouted. Miguelito smiled and flew down at his enemy at lightning speed. Miguelito slammed his knee against the back of Hybreed’s skull, forcing a blood-curdling scream out of the Icer’s lips.
The smoke in the ring died down, as Hybreed dropped to his knee’s, his eyes glazed over. The crowd began gaining their vision back in time to see Hybreed plop onto his face. “Oh my!” the announcer shouted running over near Hybreed. The announcer glanced up at Miguelito and immediately began counting “One…Two…Three…” Miguelito grinned and formed a fist, looking back to his friend in the entryway to the ring, giving in him the thumbs up. “Four….Five…Six…Seven…” Hybreed was still motionless “Damn, he’s strong” Aydin mentioned as he walked up to join Morach. “Eight…Nine…Ten! Miguelito is the champion of the World!”
“Miguel-Ito! Miguel-Ito! Miguelito!” The crowd chanted as the champion raised his arm victoriously into the air. The championship belt firmly in his hand. Morach smiled and walked out into the sunlight to greet his friend. “Very nice” the namek said, nodding. Miguelito waved to the crowd as roses were showered out of the stands.
