One light near the camera produces a harsh beam and shows little character and form of the face
Moving the lamp to one side and diffusing the beam improves the picture, however the shadows are still too dark
A reflector on the unlit side of the subject fills in the shadows, avoiding conflicting shadows
Backlighting reveals more texture particuarly with a snoot on the light to narrow the beam
Adding a Blue filter over the lense or light increases the texture of the face, this however needs two to thress stops more to expose
