Ibuki rules! Then again before I played
my SF3 third strike I knew I'd like her. Yep when I was a little Amaya there was
this game in the arcades and the turbo graphix 16 called yes ::drum roll:: Street
Fighter. And you could play as Ryu and face one of the few cool characters in
the game, and this guy was a ninja master in purple called Geki. It would have
been really cool if I could play as Geki then but hey some games sucked and pulled
crap like that back then. Anyway when I found out they didn't bring back Geki
but introduced his daughter I thought it was the coolest thing. And in the arcade
when you won a round as Ibuki you could see Geki hovering in the background watching
her victory. It was awesome, still is. But I could not enjoy that in my own home
because I was in the process of boycotting Street Fighter 3 until they brought
back Chun Li lol, I know I should have just bought it anyway but I was being stubborn
about it lol. Anyway what I thought was cool about Ibuki is that she looked and
had similar moves to her dad Geki, but they were from their own mold and given
a twist. It might have been cool if she used the steel claw like Geki, but Capcom
made that Vega's thing I guess. No matter, the way she handles those daggers she
doesn't need a steel claw.
Ibuki's story line has been pretty
straight forward so far. And I hope Capcom will develop it much further. Her
story line has a great amount of potential, and her character has plenty of
history behind it to work with. But so far this is what has happened basically
After Geki competed in the first tournament he gained power in the ninja clan.
Ibuki is in the tournament because since she's his daughter, she has expectations
to live up to. Her fighting skills are looked at by the village the way most
teenagers would look upon school work. She fights, she's graded, reviewed, and
continues training. So Ibuki fights to continue the reputation of pride and
strength the ninja clan has upheld for centuries. However Ibuki while doing
this is still deep down an average teenager. Just one in very un-average village
of ninjas. What I like most about Ibuki is that she's young, petite, and pretty,
but these attributes are so deceptive. She's a very efficient fighter, and her
attacks are skilled and precise. She's deceptively lethal...tricky ...I like
that!
