Gabriel Knight 1: Sins of the Fathers

Gabriel Knight:

Gabriel Knight was orphaned at the age of eight after his parents died in a tragic car accident and was raised by his grandmother throughout the remaining years of his childhood. After inheriting a small sum of money from his mother, Knight opened up a small bookstore called St. George's Books. The book store, located in the French Quarter of New Orleans, holds many rare books that no one would want. Knight, who is also a writer of pulp fiction novels, is a simple man who spends most of his time chasing women while dreaming of finding a purpose for his life.

Grace Nakamura:

Grace Nakamura is a Japanese/American student who is paying her way through college by working at St. George's Books as Gabriel's assistant. Her main job description is repairing damaged books for Gabriel and harping on him about his lifestyle and all the women he dates. Grace was going for her Ph.D. at Yale University when she decided to take a break for the summer. She chose to move to New Orleans because it was more exotic compared to New York where she was raised and partly because it was away from her dominating mother. She answered an advertisement for help in a book store, It was a fateful decision. For any number of reasons she's been bound to him ever since, inexorably, like light and darkness themselves.

Malia Gedde:

Malia Gedde is the last in the line of a very wealthy family. She meets Gabriel one day while he is at a voodoo murder scene. Gedde becomes Gabriel's main love interest.

Dr. John:

Dr. John, who moved from the West Indies to the United States, is the caretaker of the Voodoo Museum in the French Quarter of New Orleans.

Wolfgang:

Wolfgang Ritter is Gabriel Knight's great uncle and lives in "Schloss Ritter" which is a great castle in Rittersberg, Germany.

Mosely:

Franklin Mosely is a detective who works for the New Orleans Police Department. Mosely, who has been Gabriel Knight's friend since childhood, gives Gabriel inside information about a case called, "The Voodoo Murders." The voodoo murders are a series of horrific murders that have been plaguing New Orleans. Mosely also provides Gabriel with graphic crime scene pictures as long as Gabriel promises to mention Mosely's name in his new novel.
