"Oh!" said the one who saved my life. "I never got your name!"
"Hmmm. My name is Seto. What is yours?" I answered.
"I'm Mighoto. Now let's get you to a doctor. Here comes somebody right now."
"I told you not to go into the forest, but do you listen? No, because you are foolish little lion person, you no listen to anybody, and look now, you get all busted up by the stupid screecher. Ah well, at least he's gon-"
"Can't you see he's in fatal condition! We need somebody to give him some bandadges and medicine!" Mighoto interupted.
"I am one, come with me-um..."
"Seto," I informed the little dwarf.
"Ah, yes, Seto, come with me!" I was brought into a little hut and given several medicines that tasted like rotten sausage and garlic. It probably was.
Several hours later when the whole village was asleep, I left my hut and went outside to look at the sky. It was so beautiful. The sky is like a story, telling you chapter by chapter of the gods and their lives. You can read the constellations like a book, and each constellation is it's own story. Shooting stars are the excitment of the book, dazzling and bright. That night I spent many hours looking at the stars and other galaxies, wondering, not about the stars, but about myself. Where did I come from, who were my parents, and why am I here? That night I decided to dedicate my life to finding the answers to these questions. When will I know...
"AAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!! It's Anima!"
I was quickly awoken by a shrill, fear-filled scream.
"Seto!" Mighoto opened the door to the hut, come quick, it's Anima!"
"What's Anima?" I questioned.
"It's a demon-lord that comes to Mideel every once in a while and forces us to pay tribute. Now come, help me fight it!"
I got out of the hut and almost fainted. There stood something even more
horrific than The Screecher. It was twenty-five feet tall and had fangs two feet
long, and chains draped over it's shoulders, sweet smelling decomposing bodies
hanging from the chains. It had massive wings, with huge yellow, stained blades
protruding from the bottom. The demon had leatherly looking brown skin, and it
was blind from living in the dark underworld for so long. But worse of all was
the smell. It smelled worse than, rotting bodies, chocobo waste, and shoopuf
manuer (or however you spell it).
"Die you
hellish fiend!" screamed Mighoto. She shot a rising sun at Anima. It bounced off
harmlessly.
"How are we going to kill this thing?" she screamed.
"Use your materia!" I answered.
"What's materia?"
"It's a stone that allows you to use magic. Here put this into a slot on your rising sun!" I threw Mighoto a fire materia.
"Now focus on anima burning really hard," I told her.
"All right," Mighoto closed her eyes. Several seconds later right when Anima was swinging his chain and about to hit her with it, a huge flame burst out of her rising sun. The flame scorched Anima's skin and left it in charcoals. Bits of burnt skin were falling off. But Anima woulldn't give up.
"RRRAAAAHHHHHRRRR!!!" It gave off a blasting roar them flew a few feet into the air. All of a sudden Mighoto was struck by lightning. Anima had bolt materia.
"Nooooo!!!" I cried. Then the doctor dwarf joined me.
"I have a really strong materia. Use it." The Mideelian handed me a brownish orb. "It's earth materia."
I began to focus on a huge hole in the ground swallowing up Anima forever. Nothing happened.
"What happened?" I asked the dwarf.
"Watch out!" he warned. I ducked just in time as Anima's wing swept over me, but threw me back several feet. "Take this!" the dwarf handed me an ether. I drank it and felt magic surging through my body, through my blood vessels and into my brain.
"Now use it!"
I focused again on Anima getting swallowed up in the earth.
"RRRRRAAAAHHHHRRRRR!!!"
I opened my eyes and saw a hole in the ground, almost like a monster, swallowing Anima whole. The demon-lord Anima was defeated.
That night I prayed for Mighoto to live. All I wanted was to see her
beautiful shining face one more time. I totally forgot about finding my past,
about how I saved Mideel. All I wanted was the one I loved...
"Rise and Shine!" I opened my eyes and there stood Mighoto, perfectly
healed.
"Mighoto! You're alive! Yes! I was so worried and-"
"Whoa, whoa, slow down, it just happened that the Mideelians have some really strong healing magic. I was holding on to life by a strand and then they used some magic and gave me an ointment. My organs were burnt pretty bad from that lightning. Well, I'm fine now, and we're heading out of Mideel. Where do you want to go?"
"I...want to find my parents and where I came from...I don't know where it is..."
"Cosmo Canyon," Mighoto replied.
"What are you talking about?"
"I came from Cosmo Canyon, there's plenty of our kind there, that's probably where you're from. I left there because I needed some adventure in my life. But I guess it's time for me to go back now."
"Really!" I couldn't believe it. A moment ago my heart was aching, and now, my whole life seemed like a flower. Without waiting for Mighoto, I sprinted out of Mideel, and out onto the plains of the Southern Isle.
