History
In Africa, during the early middle ages, a tribe of Indians known as the Toketemes, traveled all over Africa, India and Europe. While in southern France, out in a large and open field, the Toketemes were attacked by a ruthless pack of Russian barbarians. The tribes leader, Inam, was run through by a vicious blade, and managed to drag himself into the forest.
Bleeding, and crazed he screamed in his native tongue to the devil. Inam said that if he would give him the spirit of an animal to let him live, that he would give him his soul, and the soul of his children and their children and so forth. As he let loose a blood-curdling scream, an ash gray and bark red wolf padded over, and howled over the chief’. The man, crazed and hallucinating as he was, leapt up, and bit into the wolf’s jugular with his teeth, piercing the life-giving vein, and killing the creature. He ripped open it’s flesh, and devoured it’s heart in two, swift swallows. He fell atop the wolf, and their desperate souls bonded, to form one.... The first werewolf.
Inam awoke days and days later, under a fool moon. He stood and tried to gather his wits about him, when the clouds cleared, and a terrible pain broke through his body. A horrible transformation followed, and lasted for hours. When he was finished, he dragged his body to the creek to wet his face, and saw his reflection for the first time since he’d made the pact....
He had the physique of the wolf, he was covered in the ash and blood fur. His ears were tipped up the side of his head, and spun this way and that, catching every sound that his golden yellow eyes saw. He realized that he could run as fast as the wolf on all four paws, but also stand, like a human, on his hind legs.
Still garbed in his bloody battle clothes, he padded off through the night silently, to his tribe...
When he returned, it had been a day, and he was back in his human form. He quickly explained to his tribe, (which had been decreased incredibly in numbers by the battle) what had happened. They quickly begged of him to turn them to what he now was, to avenge their loved one’s deaths. Inam held a celebration, a slaughtering, where he would soon transform his entire tribe into the werewolves, and forever change the world.
That night, through many, failed experiments, Inam discovered that the only way to successfully turn a tribemate into a werewolf, they both had to give up sacrifice. The ritual had to be completed quickly, or the tribemate being transformed would die.
First Inam had to slice a long gash from the collar bone, to the end of the rib cage. The one being transformed would then have to thrust a cold metal blade into Inam’s jugular vein, and spill the blood into his chest cavity. Thus healing the tribemate, and sealing them forever into the bind that captured Inam.
But the mighty chief would soon discover that there was another way, a less dangerous, less painful way to produce werewolves....
Reproduction.
The tribe believed that everyone, whether they were of tribal blood or not, had an animal spirit in them, and when they were turned into werewolves, they could see the spirits while the people were sleeping. The only way that these werewolves could produce is if their spirits could drag the name of the sleepers spirit to them in a process called ‘hallowing’. Once this was done, once the werewolf’s spirit knew the sleeper’s spirit’s name, they were totally and completely at their mercy. While they could not make them willingly join with them, they could use their spirits name like a weapon, using certain words in their native tongue before speaking the name aloud would cause incredible pain to the spirit’s host.
The child of this pairing was not always a werewolf. The type of were the child was depended on the spirit that was stronger during the joining. If a werewolf were to join with the host of an eagle spirit, and during the joining the eagle spirit’s power exceeded that of the were’s, the child would be wereeagle. Nothing can determine what spirit will be dominant, not gender, not age, nothing... except chance.
