Sailor Moon

(names in parenthesis are the dub replacements.)

The series begins with a fourteen year old girl named Tsukino Usagi(Serena), nicknamed "Bunny". Usagi is loud, chronically late, and lazy. She's typically adolescent, if moreso than actual adolescents, spending her time wishing she were somewhere else and not paying attention to the things that demand her time--aka schoolwork.

In episode one, Usagi meets a cat named Luna, who gives her a magical brooch and tells her that she is Sailor Moon, the leader of the Sailor Senshi, and that she must find the other Senshi and the Moon princess and save Tokyo from a deadly enemy.

Eventually, Usagi does as Luna tells her and transforms into Sailor Moon, rushes to the jewelry, where her best friend, Naru (Molly), is being held captive, frees her with the help of the mysterous Tuxedo Kamen(Tuxedo Mask), and thus begins her identity as the beautiful girl soldier sailor moon bishoujo senshi sailor moon.

Sailor Moon continues her quest, fighting against Queen Beryl of the Negaverse, who is trying to gather enough energy to find the ginzuishou(Silver Imperium Crystal) to release her imprisoned master. She sends youma(monsters) under the direction of General Jadeite to gather energy and find the ginzuishou. Sailor Moon finds Sailor Mercury, or Mizuno Ami(Amy), a genius transfer student who they original suspected as "the enemy," and Sailor Mars, Hino Rei(Raye), the beautiful priestess of Hikawa Shrine (Cherry Hill Temple). Together, with help from Tuxedo Kamen, they continue to fight and defeat General Jadeite.

Jadeite is replaced by General Nephrite, who continues his predecessor's work by sending youma to Tokyo to collect energy. The Sailors continue to fight. Meanwhile, Rei and Usagi are bitter at one another over Tuxedo Kamen, with whom they are both enamored. Rei also has a crush on Chiba Mamoru(Darien, in the manga Darien Shields), who Usagi despises for calling her "odanga atama"(meatball head--dub trans). While they are fighting Nephrite, Naru falls in love with his alternate identity. Nephrite tries to use Naru to find Sailor Moon, as he already suspects that Usagi is involved, but Zoisite--another General of the Negaverse, kidnaps Naru, thinking to trap Nephrite into giving her the black crystal with which he sucks energy. Nephrite saves Naru, and Naru bandages his arm. Zoisite sends a youma after Nephrite, which kills him with a long thorn before the Senshi can stop it. Before Nephrite dies, he apologizes to Naru for lying and thanks her.

After Nephrite's death, Beryl recruits Zoisite to retrieve the seven nijizuishou(Rainbow Crystals), shards of the ginzuishou that held the seven strongest youma of the Negaverse trapped within.

Meanwhile, Usagi befriends Kino Makoto(Lita), a tall exchange student who she envies for her skill to cook and fight. During a battle with the first nijizuishou, Makoto is revealed to Sailor Jupiter.

Tuxedo Kamen, who is sercretly Chiba Mamoru, is also searching for the nijizuishou. He meets Sailor Moon and she tries to return a locket he dropped during a battle, but he tells her to keep it. She asks if he is an enemy, and he says that if she comes between him and the nijizuishou, then he is.

After all of the nijizuishou have been found, a strange girl who everyone thinks is Sailor Moon shows up and starts fighting crime around the city. Meanwhile, Beryl tries to concoct a plan to retrieve the nijizuishou that are in the hands of the Senshi and Tuxedo Kamen. She orders Kunzite (Malachite) to trick Tuxedo Kamen and steal his nijizuishou. The Senshi and Tuxedo Kamen run to rescue a fake Sailor Moon from kunzite's trap. Tuxedo Kamen is stabbed by Zoisite and the Senshi captured by Kunzite. Zoisite chases Tuxedo Kamen and knocks his mask away.

As Zoisite is about to kill him, the strange girl appears and saves Tuxedo Kamen and the Senshi. The new girl is Sailor Venus, Aino Minako(Mina), who has been fighting crime in Europe as Sailor V. With Venus is Artemis, Luna's male counterpart.

Beryl tells Zoisite not to kill Tuxedo Kamen, but to capture him. Zoisite, who now knows that he is also Chiba Mamoru, broadcasts a challenge to Tuxedo Kamen to battle for one another's nijizuishou. As Mamoru is going to meet him (in the dub Zoisite is female, but originally he is male), Usagi runs up behind him and slaps him in the back. He doesn't insutl her as usual, but smiles, tells her not to change, and then walks away. Usagi realizes that there is blood on her hand from Mamoru's back and she follows him. They are both caught in Zoisite's force field and taken to the Starlight tower, where Usagi falls unconscious and Zoisite tricks Mamoru into giving up his nijizuishou. He challenges Mamoru to meet him at the top of the tower, and as the ceiling begins to collapse and Zoisite vanishes, Mamoru and the newly recovered Usagi run for the elevator.

While inside, Mamoru told her why that he was after the nijizuishou to find the ginzuishou because a recurring dream with a princess had told him to find it and help him remember his past, which he had lost in a car crash.

Zoisite sends a fireball toward the elevator and Sailor Moon transforms after a moment of hesitation, to the amazement of Mamoru, who she then pulls away from the elevator. Once they are on the top floor, Mamoru transforms into Tuxedo Kamen and concedes to a duel with Zoisite as long as Sailor Moon is left alone. Zoisite attacks Sailor Moon from behind and Tuxedo Kamen throws himself between the spear and the girl.

Sailor Moon kneels beside Tuxedo Kamen and begins to cry. The seven nijizuishou disappear from Kunzite and meld with her tears to form the ginzuishou. Sailor Moon transforms into Princess Serenity and blasts Zoisite with her moon wand. Kunzite steals Tuxedo Kamen's body and he and Zoisite return to the Negaverse, where Zoisite is executed by Beryl.

After Usagi's transformation, the memories of Usagi, Luna and Artemis began to return. They tell the Senshi that Usagi had been the Princess of the Moon Kingdom during the Silver Millenium, and the Senshi had been her protectors. Mamoru had been Endymion, the Prince of Earth and Princess Serenity's love. The forces of the Nevagerse and Queen Metallia--Beryl's Mistress--had been released, and the ginzuishou had sealed the evil away. Queen Serenity, Princess Serenity's mother, had sent her daughter, the senshi, and Endymion to the future to be reborn.

Beryl brainwashed Endymion into becoming her soldier and orders him to defeat Sailor Moon.

The Senshi continue to fight off attacks by Kunzite and the brainwashed Endymion, until Luna opens a tunnel beneath the Sailor V game in the arcade to the Negaverse. On their way, they are confronted by Kunzite, and in a struggle for the ginzuishou, the senshi are transported into a vision of the past, where they see Beryl's invasion and their own deaths. They return to the tunnel in time to save Luna and Artemis from Kunzite. Sailor Moon destroys Kunzite and they decide to wait to enter the Negaverse.

Natural disasters begin appearing around Tokyo, and Artemis tells the Senshi that it's time for them to go. They travel to the north pole, where they enter the Negaverse. As they progress, they are attacked by powerful youma in different forms. One by one, the senshi sacrifice themselves to save sailor moon: Jupiter, Mercury, Venus, and Mars. Sailor Moon realizes she is the only hope and runs to find Beryl.

Once Sailor Moon reaches Beryl, the Queen sends Endymion to attack her. Endymion nearly kills her and knocks her wand from her reach, but as he is about to finish her, she throws her Moon Tiara at him and knocks him to the ground. He remembers himself, and Beryl, being deprived of her soldier, throws a spear to kill them. Endymion throws a rose to counter it, and as Beryl realizes that she is being defeated, she retreats.

Sailor Moon watches as Endymion, his last energy spent, dies in front of her.

Beryl releases Metallia, who consumes her and recreates her body as a gigantic version of herself. Sailor Moon confronts her as Princess Serenity and releases the full power of the ginjuishou, killing Metallia and herself.

The girls are reborn again, by the power of their sacrifice and the ginzuishou. Their memories of their identities and their pasts vanish, and they began to live like normal girls.

That's the end of the first season.
