Metallia is the malevolent force behind the dark kingdom/negaverse. Beryl and crew are gathering energy in order to resurrect Metallia and take over earth.

The queen of the negaverse, Beryl is in charge of the operations to gather Energy from Unfortunate Earthlings in order to release Metallia from her imprisonment and wreak Havoc on the Earth.

Beryl was once huma n and was corrupted by Metallia toward the end of the Silver Millenium, at which point she converted the four generals, Jadeite, Nephrite, Kunzite, and Zoisite, to Metallia's evil force and took over the earth.

The first of Beryl's generals, Jadeite is by far the most lovable of the four. In the past, he was one of Prince Endymion's protectors, but was corrupted by Beryl and aided Metallia in the taking-over of earth. This blonde general tries to collect energy and destroy the rapidly increasing band of Sailor Soldiers. Eventually Beryl tires of him and punishes him by encasing him in crystal and dooming him to spend eternity within it.

The second of Beryl's generals, Nephrite was employed in the energy-gathering scheme after Jadeite failed. During his scheme to discover Sailor Moon's true identity, however, he falls for Usagi's best friend, Naru(Molly), and saves her life from Zoisite. In return, Zoisite follows Nephrite and kills him.

In the original, Zoisite is a man, but in the American dub, she's a woman. As the third of Beryl's generals, he/she was charged with collecting the seven rainbow crystals(nijizuishou) from within various humans on earth. These crystals were the key to recovering the lost Imperium Crystal(ginzuisho). She devised a scheme to trap Sailor Moon, but when she killed Tuxedo Kamen, the Imperium Crystal appeared in her hands and she escaped. Queen Beryl killed her.

The least interesting of the generals, Kunzite(Malachite-dub) was employed after the other three were indisposed. He fought the senshi several times, with a vengeance for the dead Zoisite, with whom he was rather close. Sailor Moon killed him in a battle just before she and the other four went to fight Beryl.
