Daniel D. Willoughby is the founder and president of D&N Scientific. Dan has an extensive background in spectroscopy, starting with his work as a Service Engineer at Perkin Elmer Corporation directly following his honorable discharge from the US Marine Corps. Specializing in AA (atomic absorption), ICP (inductively coupled plasma), UV/VIS, IR and graphite furnace at Perkin Elmer, he was one of the first PE service engineers to be promoted to Service Specialist. D&N has partnered with Dr. Rob Richter of Chicago State University to assist in demonstrating LIBS technology and in developing this exciting technique to its fullest potential.
Westminster College in Pittsburgh, PA recently allowed us to hold our first LIBS seminar. As a result of this seminar, a Westminster student was able to present a poster at PittCon, 2009. We hope to continue this relationship to give more students opportunities to utilize our demonstration equipment.
