Not Malaria…
Nope, it wasn’t malaria. I live for another day! I’ve felt dizzy all
day today, nothing like yesterday though. I pulled into a dodgy supermarket on
the way home – its called a “Score” supermarket and it’s name implies the only decent
stuff you’re going to get there. Nothing legal. I was desperate for a stale
loaf of bread and some sour milk so I stopped in and bought a chocolate bar at
the counter. I took one bite and felt a million times better – it was
phenomenal! I’m still drinking heaps of water and am not quite 100% but I
should be sound by tomorrow.
Went along to a farmers’ meeting today which was only slightly
useful for my research but hear this great argument by members of the
Dingleydale community about corruption allegations against a group who are
doing an infrastructure rehabilitation programme. Every bugger was throwing his
two cents in and making it sound more like two Rand.
Interviewed a couple of other farmers and now have done eight
farmer interviews. Won’t go back to Dingleydale because there’s heaps of other
areas I should go to and quite frankly, I find the place a bit of a hole. There’s
nothing obviously wrong with it but sometimes you just get a bit of a crap
feeling about a place.
Got the football game tomorrow and Sunday I intend to write up
some interviews but apart from that I intend to do bugger all minus one. The
intention is that before the game tomorrow I go to Hoedspruit and get these journals
up on the internet. I won’t bother with pictures or anything until I get to an
internet café I can trust. Isn’t it cool how Microsoft puts that little thing
on the top of the e in café? And how it puts the tail on the c in Moçambique?
Wicked, eh? It also changes the m in Microsoft to a capital if you’re callus
enough to use a small m. I mean, what if I used the word Microsoft not referring
to the company? There you go, its done it again! Bastards! It won’t recognise the
capital in bastard cash-quick enterprises? No, I’ve gotta do the capital B
myself!
I think I’d better go eh?
See yous soons,
Julien
