Ramona had just arrived in San Francisco, from Twin Cities, to visit her Aunt when she received an invitation to the historical society ball. Her Aunt explained you are my guest and any invitation sent to me is extended to you as well. Romona felt like Cindarella at the ball. The elegant Victorian Fashions and the European Manners of the guests were so elegant. It did seem strange that the invitation specified after sunset, but her Aunt Louise had made all the arrangements. She had given her an original silk gown and provided for her personal assistant Rebecca to help her get ready for the party. Ramona noticed Rebecca was wearing a modern women's business suit with short skirt and high heels and asked, "aren't you coming to the party." Rebecca paused from tightening the corset to say, "Oh no Lady... she quickly cut herself off... Miss Dane. I gave up petticoats a long time ago." She had even arranged for her to be driven to the party in her Aunt's vintage Rolls Royce. The driver and footman in pinstripe suits seemed strangely out of place. She was almost certain she had seen a violin case on the front seat. Rebecca continued, "Its important that you meet the right people and do so in proper style, my dear. Now go and have a good time." TOREADOR GRAND SOCIAL

It was like something out of a fairy tale and a little to much for a young woman to comprehend all at once. Numerous young men offered to be her escort as she stepped out into the gardens; but Jussac's commanding PRESENCE made them all fade away. She still didn't quite believe she had agreed to pose for him, but of all the numerous handsome gentlemen paying her court that night. The next morning Jussac was gone and Natasha felt like a foolish school girl who had been dumped after the prom. The servants were very attentive and insisted she stay until Jussac returned. They suggested she was much to weak to leave. She wasn't quite sure how to handle what had happened. She felt so strange it was almost like a burning inside her. Her mother's friend, Aunt Louise, whom she had know since she was a child, visited her that evening. She heard one of the servants refer to her as Countess Suffren. She explained what had happened.
