Alex was only 25 at the time of his embrace in 1950. His parents divorced at an early age. As a young boy he acted as a guide and tracker in the Alaskan Wilderness with his American Father. He went to school in Quebec and lived with his Canadian Mother, but spent vacations and summers with his father. There he learned hunting and survival skills; as well as becoming a fair shot. In the city he studied History with an emphasis on the Occult as well as learning to speak English and French. He became involved with a high society young lady Beverley Smythe who was studying Pre-Law.
The young Canadian joined the Army at 19; and she promished to wait for him. He was one of the survivors of the ill-fated Dieppe Landings in 1942 on the French Coast. He volunteered and was excepted into the newly forming Paratroops and was assigned to the 6th Airborne Division. His new unit was the 1st Airborne Light Tank Squadron which deployed their Tetrarch Tanks in the huge Hamilcar Gliders. Alex went on to become a veteran of the Normandy Airdrop and Operation Varsity, the Rhine Crossing. He was discharged in 1946 and returned to Canada. His mother had died in a car crash and his father had been killed in a hunting accident. Worst of all Beverly had stopped writing and no one knew where she had gone. Alex retreated to his father's hunting lodge near Anchorage, Alaska to seek escape from a world that seemed to have abandoned him. He took solace in hunting the elusive great grey wolf that was said to inhabit the Alaskan /Canadian Wildeness, and had always eluded his father. One night four years later he found her. Camile Devereux had been watching the young man and decided the time was right for the embrace. For the next ten years she left him to survive or die on his own. Then in the early sixties she returned to see how he had faired. Alex had gotton along quite well and while he seemed to have the gift of Protean the other traditional Gangrel Disciplines had eluded him. Camile spent the next twenty years teaching him the customs, ways, and oral traditions of their Clan. She still considers herself part of the Camarilla as does Alex. Then just as suddenly as she came she disappeared again.
Alex runs a rather stylish hunting lodge, known as the Valkarie Club staffed by his herd of half a dozen attractive young women. He has also assisted the military search and rescue units on numerous occassions.
In June 2000 a group of Canadian Conservationists booked rooms in his lodge for several weeks to photograph local wildlife. Among its members was Beverly not looking a day older from when he said good-bye to join the Army. She explained how she had been embraced into Clan Toreador and had been told to put him out of her life as they were in different worlds.
Good things do really come to those who wait she told him. They've been together ever since virtually ignored by their respective clan elders for the moment
