Candle
Written by Me

Here at the alter stands a solitary candle

Alone

All his friends have perished and he is left

Alone

A tear falls down his side and freezes
Forming outstretched hands begging for mercy
Nobody heeds the pleas nor sees the dripping sweat
A fiery imp dances on top oblivious to the damage she is causing
She dances a happy jig pounding the candle to the ground.

Here at the alter stands a solitary candle

Alone

All his friends have perished and he is next

Alone

What will you do when your wick is lit?
Will you sweat and cry?
Will you reach out your arms hoping for some one to hold you?
Or will you stand tall and silent till the last ounce of life ebbs away?

Here at the alter stand a solitary candle

Alone

All his friends have perished and he has joined them.

He sits alone in his room.
His room, like his life, is cold and dark.
In one hand he holds a glass of water.
In the other hand, he holds several white tablets.
The world has become silent.

In one final cry for help, he screams to God,
"If just one person cares, oh Lord, let them call.
If one person is there, let them speak to me!"
He waits . . .

There is no ring.
The world has become silent.
In the darkness, he slowly lifts the glass to his lips.
The cool water enters his mouth. He tips his head back.
His other hand is raised to his mouth, and it opens.
The white tablets fall from his hand and into his mouth.
Tears stream down his cheeks. He is unable to make a sound.

He thinks. For a brief moment, he thinks of those he will leave behind.
He thinks of those people who will be heartbroken.
His thought, sadly, is very brief.
He closes his eyes tightly, and swallows.
He lays down on his bed, wraps himself in his sheets, and closes his eyes.
The world has gone silent.

Nowhere to go
Written by Me

Under the bridge he sits.

Every day,
Every week,
Every Month.

He saw you. Did you see him?
Or did you ignore him?

He was there.

He saw your clothes and your hair.
Did you see his?
Or did you ignore them?

They were there.

He reached out and you ignored his pleading hands
He cried out and you ignored his pleading screams
You ignored him every day,
Every week,
Every month.

Under the bridge he lies.
Every night
Every Day
Every month he will lie.
Now will you ignore him?

Agony in the home
Written by Me

He hurts.
His head is hurting from the blows,
His ears are throbbing from the noise,
His heart is heavy from the pain.

He floats away.
Away to a place without crying.
Without voices,
Without shrieking.
Away to a place where he will not be hit or beaten.
Away to a place where he will not be punched or kicked.
A gentle smile passes over his face.
It is the first and the last.

A woman is there.
She does not shout.
She does not throw things at him.
She offers him a box.

In it lies the end of the pain.
The end of the suffering,
The end of the screams.
The blade of a knife.

I'm gonna fly free like a bird in the sky
Each time you dry a tear from my eye
I'm going to make you see
All the good that lives in me
You let me go, this is true
But I haven't let go of you
Your memory lives inside my mind
I don't know how to leave the thought behind

Someday you'll see we were meant to be
And that God sent you for me
But you don't see it yet
That the loss of you has left my soul in debt
You and I are soul mates
And I don't feel whole as of late
Because you left me here alone

I could see it in your tone
The way you stood and looked at me
The way your eyes strained to see
Whether you had made the right decision
Said the words with such precison
"I'm sorry. This isn't going to work"
Tears stained my face and my heart hurt
"Have a nice life..." I said at last
I nodded and let you fade into my past
But the memories stayed in my heart
In my mind I keep watching you depart

You went away and left me here
Made me realize my deepest fear
Is being alone for all eternity
Surrounded only by my own uncertainty

Delineate

my downcast eyes
my empty soul
my hollow heart
my shivering form
is nothing to you
you just don't care
and when I die
nothing would stop
no one would sob
no one would sigh
