FIELD GEAR

Pre and early war, the Luftwaffe issued field gear in natural brown leather, and uniforms, canvas, and painted gear in grey-blue canvas/paint. Uniforms had grey-blue wool, and blue hel. They also issued special "cavalry" Y-straps for use by flak and paratrooper personell. However, as the war went on, the Wehrmacht began streamlining its production of field gear, and the first things to go were limited runs or non-standardized gear. The Luftwaffe began issuing the same field gear as the Heer, in black leather and feld grau canvas. Vets from earlier campaigns would often hang on to a few of these blue or brown leather items as a sign of their experience and tenure in the Luftwaffe.

As a late-war Luft Flak unit, we will mostly be using Heer field gear; depending on when your persona entered the Luftwaffe, members are permitted to wear one or two blue or brown "Luftwaffe" pieces of equipment. The same applies to helmet color; either Heer green/grey or Luftwaffe Blue are authorized, with/without a Luftwaffe helmet decal.

Maximum 2 "Luftwaffe" style pieces of gear allowed.

1. Y-Straps (Koppeltraggestell mit Hilfstragereimen): Standard black leather, with "A" frame straps. Option for brown leather or "cavalry" style, with no "A" frame straps.

2. Breadbag (Brotbeutel): Standard Heer green or Luftwaffe Graublau.

3. Mess Tin (Kochgeschirr): Wartime or correct postwar version, painted Heer green.

4. Canteen (Feldflasche): (Not Pictured) Original or reporduction, brown wool cover.

5. Bayonet/Frog (Seitengewehr): If carrying a pistol or SMG, can be replaced by a fighting knife.

6. Entrenching Tool/Carrier (Spaten): Correct style folding or straight E-tool, with black or brown leather carrier.

8. Belt Buckle (Koppelschloss): Luftwaffe buckle painted blue, green, or "in the white."
