Chapter 3 Saltmarshes

Paddlin'

The party rest up while Donavan heals their wounds. Vadim experiemnets with some of the treaure, and spends some time with the fishermen in saltmarsh. They also debate about trying to fool the lizardmen into thinking the party are smugglers. After 3 days(the 14th of elint), feeling refreshed and healed. Harry Luck turns up in his Katermaran, to take the party up the coast. Vadim and Thurik complain about having to paddle. But the party make quick progress along the coast. They see the sea crash against the sharp rocks of the sword coast as the paddle up along the coast , and then along into the marshes. From the katamaran the party can see the saltmarshes. The marsh abounds with sea birds and marsh fowl and many varieties of small, harmless lizards; an occasional crocodile;there are also large numbers of butterflies, dragonflies, blackflies and mosquitoes, while normal fish and frogs will be seen in the many streams and pools. From dusk to early morning the marshes and adjacent coastal waters will be wreathed in thick but low-lying mists, to a height of about 20 feet. There are many pools and meres of varying depth within the marshes, mostly shallow though a few are deep, and small streams run between and connect these together.Vegetation consists mainly of tall grasses and reeds, some low-lying shrubs and a few trees of willow and thorn acacia. Harry guides the party to where the cross is marked on the map. All they can see once there, is endless marsh, and a hill or mound, juting out of the marsh about 100' high. After a 10 minute rest, the party head towards the hill.

Triton of Aquatas

Harry Luck drops the party off at the base of the hill and they proceed northwards along a well used trail towards what they think is a cave , the lizard-men are using. However the trail turns eastwards and up the hill, leading to a dead-end. After a quick search the party discover a wooden door, and behind it a tinnel lit with torches. Hador and Vadim lead the party into the tunnel. They are accosted by a lizard-man. Hador tries to communicate with him, but with no luck. Soon more lizard-men appear. Hador tries to tell them the party are there to sell them weapons. However the lizard-men insist on disarming the party, or at least taking their visable weapons. The party do this reluctanly, and are then escorted through many dimly lit tunnels and put in cells, after much protest. Where the lizard-men leave them. The Vadim quickly opens the cell doors and frees the party. They also find a Triton prisoner. Who tells them he was captured by the evil lizardmen, and that the sea cave enterence is nearby. The party form a plan to break out of the jail, and get the triton to the sea cave, so he can swim for help.(the picture, is of the triton)

Jail Break

The party charge out of the cells , and quickly dispose of the three guards. And head towards the sea cave. Four lizardmen guarding the sea enterence ambush the party. Triton dives into the pool and tries to swim for the sea, but the lizardmen kill Triton. Seven green looking goblin creatures swim into the pool underwater. Vincent thinking triton is still alive strips off , blinds the lizardmen with a spell. Then takes a running jump, attempting to leap over the goblins and rescue Triton. However he lands right on top off the goblins , who proceed to impale him on their spears.Thurik and Hador, quickly pull Vincent back ashore, then Donavan brings Vincent back from near death. Vadim decides he's had enough and makes a run for it. Vincent sets some oil on fire in the door way to block their retreat, as the party turn and run.
