Hi! My name is Chad Bice and I am collecting pennies. Not in the sense of a coin collector, but rather as a automobile collector.
It has been a desire of mine (and probably many of you) to have a Porsche 911. I know that I could never afford one a new one (on my salary!) not to mention insurance and maintenance. But I figured I might be able to afford a nice used one.
One day, I put the pennies that were building up in my desk drawer into an empty candy jar that I had at my desk, to take home with me that night. As a joke, I put a Post-It-Note on it that said PENNIES FOR PORSCHES, FEEL FREE TO CONTRIBUTE. I was surprised when people started putting the pennies that had been accumulating in their desks into my jar! Before you knew it, I was up to more than $4.00! Not quite enough for that 1971 911 I saw in the paper a few months ago, but it was a start. Instead of bringing the jar home, I left it on my desk. Slowly, the total grew… $6.00, $8.00, $10.00! At this rate, I could buy my 911 in…..40-50 years!
That’s where you come in. Do you have pennies piling up that you need to get rid of? You know, in your desk, in the ashtray of your car, in that jar you keep on your dresser. Everyone pulls out the quarters and sometimes even the dimes and the nickels, but those pennies, you can’t seem to get rid of them. Well, I’ll take them!
Also, if you are a coin collector, take a look at my auctions on eBay (penniesforporsches). I have some of the old pennies that I have acquired up for auction (as well as some other things). They aren’t the best example of pennies in the world, but hey, EVERY PENNY COUNTS!

02/26/03: Today I mailed off my first batch of Porsche and automobile related celebrity autograph requests. Stay tuned for more information on how you can donate and obtain a special celebrity autograph for pennies! I converted Orangeman's donation in to pennies yesterday.
03/07/03: BIG week last week. I sold some pennies on eBay and donations were HUGE! Thank you all. I now have two satellite "Pennies for Porsches" collections sites thanks to two people who volunteered to collect at their offices on my behalf. I know it's a slow start, but I really think I can reach the goal. Thanks to everyone who bought or donated this last week! I really do appreciate it.
03/18/03: Pretty good week last week, too. I sold some odds and ends on eBay. Donations at the office were down, but I have two additional people in other offices collecting on my behalf. I haven't added their pennies yet, but I'm sure it will help. Received autographs from some nationally known radio personalities (The cast of The Bob and Tom Show and Dave Ramsey, NASCAR driver Johnny Benson, and baseball hall of famer George Kell.
04/02/03: I received a few more autographs this week: from Miami Dolphins head coach Don Shula, actor Tony Curtis, and clothing designer Tommy Hilfiger. Penny collection has tapered off quite a bit here at the office. eBay sales were next to nothing. Maybe things will pick up soon!
05/19/03: eBay auctions have been good the last couple of weeks. I've made over $150! Donations have been good at the office, too. I suspect people are "spring cleaning" their desks and all the pennies are finding their way to my jar.
