Appearance Changes: As the Chosen of Salamander progresses in this class, he begins to undergo physical changes. His eyes change to fiery red, as does what little hair he has. His skin acquires a reddish-suntan appearance, regardless of time spent in the sun. His skin also begins giving off heat; very little at first, but much more at later levels. The Chosen of Salamander increases the ambient temperature within x feet by x degrees, where x = levels.

Spells: Beginning at 1st level, the Chosen of Salamander gets a small selection of spells, according to the following progression:

The Chosen of Salamander s spells are divine, thus:
Bonus spells and DCs are based on Wisdom
There is no spell failure chance
Caster Level = Cleric levels + Chosen of Salamander class levels + 1/2 other class levels.

To receive spells, a Chosen of Salamander must prayer over a fire of acceptable size, but when during the day is not an issue. Of course, a Chosen of Salamander still may only pray once per day.

Spells available:

2: Fire orb, Fireball, Flame Arrow, Flame Strike
3: Inferno, Explosive Cascade, Fire Spiders, Firebrand

Familiar: At 1st level, a Chosen of Salamander can summon a familiar in a ritual similar to a wizard’s. This familiar can either be a small Fire Elemental or any standard familiar with the Fire Creature template from Manual of the Planes applied to it. As a third option, the player and DM can work together to select an appropriate familiar of comparable power, although it must be a fiery creature.

Transformation:(SU) At 2nd level and beyond, a Chosen of Salamander may, as a full-round action, transform himself into a fire elemental. This can be done once per day/three levels (round down, minimum once). After the transformation takes place, the Chosen of Salamander gains the following abilities and qualities of the fire elemental, as summarized in the tables below. While transformed, a Chosen of Salamander keeps his INT, WIS, and CHA scores, but gains the STR, DEX, and CON scores of his new type (possibly changing his hit points). He loses all benefits of equipment, as they meld into his new form. Additionally, wihle in elemental form, a Chosen of Salamander may only speak Ignan. This transformation lasts for 1.5x the Chosen of Salamander’s level rounds, rounded down. It can be done 1/day/3 levels (round down, minimum once).

As a fire elemental, he gains the following abilites:
  • Speed: 50ft
  • Burn(Ex)
  • Fire Subtype(Ex)
  • Elemental traits - Immune to poison, sleep, paralysis, stunning, critical hits, sneak attacks, flanking.
Burn:(Ex) Those hit by a fire elemental’s slam attack must succeed at a Reflex save or catch fire for 1d4 rounds. A burning creature can take a ME action to extinguish the flames. Creatures hitting the fire elemental with natural weapons or unarmed strikes take the fire damage of a fire damage’s slam attack, and again catch fire unless they succeed at a reflex save.

Fire Based Turning:(SU) A Chosen of Salamander may rebuke or command fire creatures as a cleric of his level. This can be done a number of times/day equal to 3 + his CHA modifier.

Combustion: (SU) Beginning at 3rd level, as a full-round action, a Chosen of Salamander may ignite himself on fire. This does not harm his clothing or equipment, but it does affect his bodily hair. The flames ignite other flammable materials. Anyone grappling or contacting the Chosen one takes 1d4 + 1/2 x his COS levels fire damage. The Chosen of Salamander, while ignited, deals 1d6 +1/2 levels fire damage with unarmed strikes. This lasts 2 rds/level and can be done 1/day/2 levels (thus a 3rd level Chosen of Salamander can combust twice per day, a 5th three times per day, etc.)

Bonus Feat: At 3rd, 6th, and 9th level, a Chosen of Salamander gains a bonus feat. They must come from the fighter bonus list, or be a DM approved feat.

Burning Blood:(SU) At 4th level and beyond, a Chosen of Salamander can cut himself, as a standard action, for 1 to 5 damage. However, the damage suffered must be equal to or less than half their class level. Everyone within five feet takes 1d6 fire damage per damage suffered (Ref 1/2, DC 10 + WIS Mod + 1/2 class levels). As a full round action, with damage suffered doubled, a Chosen of Salamander may force the burning blood through his own pores - this manner doesn’t require any sharp implement to do so. However, the Chosen of Salamander takes half damage, not subject to fire resistance. In addition, whenever the Chosen of Salamander takes damage from a slashing or piercing melee weapon from a wielder five feet away, that person takes 2 fire damage. The blood cools to a normal temperature in (the Chosen's level /2) minutes.

Flame Augmentation: (SU) Beginning at 5th level, any melee weapon the Chosen holds becomes a flaming weapon. If it is already flaming, it becomes a flaming burst. If already flaming burst, it adds +2 fire damage.

Fire Blade:(SL) Once per day per two levels, at 6th level and beyond, as a standard action, a Chosen may summon forth a flame blade as per the spell (1d8 + 1/2 levels, no strength mod to damage, 1 rd/level). However, it is subject to Flame Augmentation as a flaming weapon (that is, it deals an extra 1d10 damage on a successful crit (19-20, x2) and additionally deals +2 fire damage).

Fire Stride:(SL) At 7th level, a Chosen of Salamander one gains the ability to enter a fire large enough to contain him and emerge from one large enough as well. This includes Fire Elementals, but not large sources of heat (pools of lava, for example). Once a Chosen of Salamander enters the fire, he can sense all other fires within range (400 ft. + 40/level). Each transport is a full-round action. Fires too small aren’t registered, but those that are hazardous are - for example, a fire on a pool of oil - you would emerge from the fire, and fall into the oil.

Breath of Fire:(SU) At 8th level, once per day, a Chosen of Salamander may spew up to five gouts of flame. Each may target different targets, but all must be within 30 feet. If firing multiple spurts, no two targets can be further away than ten feet. Each gout requires a ranged touch attack, and deals 2d6 damage. Each spurt deals 2 damage to the Chosen as well. Targets may make reflex saves for 1/2 damage at DC (10 + WIS Mod + 1/2 class level).

Fire Subtype: At 10th level, the Chosen of Salamander has become one with the flames, and gains the [fire] subtype. He becomes immune to fire and heat damage, but takes double damage from cold and water damage.
