A band of pirates led by Molly O'Malley and her ship, The Black Rose,
came to Scarborough. They needed a base of operations, and had planned
on taking over the town. They'd not realized that the King and his Court
were going to be there. At our Opening Gate ceremonies they revealed
that they'd snuck aboard all the ships in the harbor and had overpowered
their crews and turned all the cannon toward the town. If they weren't
given title to Scarborough by the King, they would commence bombarding
the town and everyone in it. The King, not taking them seriously at all
because he had a large number of guardsmen right outside the village,
offered them a proposal. He suggested that they compete in a series of
'tests' against the villagers who would be led by the daughter and son
of the Baron Scarborough. The winners would get the village and would
continue to pay him fealty and taxes. The pirates, wanting to avoid all
out battle, agreed to the terms. |

Authentic Wardrobe
I am the official kilt inspector," announces her firend pointing to the
button pinned to her bosom. "I make certain that the men were
their kilts properly. Hmmm, this could be interesting, I tell
myself recalling what most Scots lack beneath their kilts. I noted
that she wore a tartan skirt herself. I wonder inspects her kilt.
"Could we trust them?" her friend whispers to her.
"I suppose so."
"As you know pirates are in our village,"
"Yes we saw them outside the gates."
"Yes, so we have this simple test of loyalty." She pulls out a
handful of buttons and asks each one of us to take one.
Do you know the button lady?" asks the smaller one.

The parade
comes to an abrupt halt and who is before me but none other than the
Queen of Scotland.
"Only maddogs and Englishmen would parade in such heat," said the Queen
as she feverishly fanned herself.
As
Two noblemen duel in jest. One swings and the other
parries. His rapier snaps in two. He gathers his bladed and
quickly steps away.
Another sees me and says that I must join the parade next time.
He said to meet at the start of the parade.
