The first event is The Weight Toss
For Height. The athlete grasps the small ring attached to the
weight then flings it upwards over the bar. The most common weight being
28 pounds.
Turning the caber is
not an event based on distance but on how well the caber has been
thrown. The caber varies from 16 to 22 feet and can weight between 100
and 180 pounds. It must be thrown end over end such that th narrow end
is as close to 12 o'clock as possible.
