Ok, for all of you out there who haven't played DND 3rd edition, I'm going to attempt a hopefully coherent explanation :)
In this rpg you will create a character. This character will have various stats including - Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Ki, and Charisma. You have a total of 86 points to distribute among each of the following six stats. (Anything below 10 in a stat incurs a negative to that ability, so be careful, as the further you drop it, the worse the negative.)
The stat mods are as follows, 10 = +0. For every two points above ten, a +1 occurs. For every two points below, a -2 occurs. For example, 12 = +1, 14 = +2, 16 = +3, while 8 = -1, 6 = -2. Now, depending on the attribute and the number, different results occur.
Strength - This measures how strong you are physically and makes your melee attacks hit more often and harder.
Dexterity - Basically your hand eye as well as how well you can dodge. Good for aiming energy blasts and avoiding them.
Constitution - How much punishment you can take before hitting the mat. This also affects fortitude saves, and in general is how much hp you have.
Intelligence - Well, no one ever accused #16 of brilliance, but he managed to do alright... right? Well, if you're not built by Dr. Gerro, you may wanna be able to out smart a bag of bricks. In game terms this measures how skillfull you are and therefore how many skill points you receive. It also is the requirment for certain abilities, ableit few.
Ki - Energy blasts have to be powerd by something, and this is it. Ki is your aptitude at channeling raw energy into useful purposes such as flying (bukujutsu I think...) or turning your enemy into a greasy spot on the wall. Your ki stat gives a bonus to energy attack damage as well as being the basis for how many energy points you have to spend.
Charisma - At first glance this may not be as important in a dbz game as the other ones, but let me assure you, it is... *whistles* Seriously though, it is pretty useful, especially for Sorcerors and changelings. Sorcerors because their spell power as well as how many they have are based on it, and changelings because a lot of their transformations are boosted even further by their initial charisma score. It's also useful for bluffing an enemy into believing what you want him to, and for any type of subterfuge in battle like an attempted feint.
After you have your stats, you'll want to choose you're race. Now I've provided a list of 8 possible races for PC's to choose from, but if you want to be a race anywhere in the db/dbz/dbgt series, just e-mail me and we can talk it over. See the races page for further details.
Race - This includes Humans, Saiya-jins, Half Saiya-jins, Nameks, Icers, Changelings, Hengeyokai (Animal People) and Biological Androids.
Next on the agenda is your class. This is a very important decision in this game as it will determine what kind of abilities your character has, and what kind of person people will perceive you as. See the class page for further details on each. An example of each class is provided in parentheses for an idea on what they are.
Class - Warrior (Goku), Kensei (Trunks), Sorceror (Babiti), Rogue(No one was a full rogue, but many possesed a few levels in it.), and Political Leader (Guru).
Name - Famous names from the series are unacceptable, I will not have Goku the nine millionth running around in the game. Make it good or I will reject your character. Sorry that's just the way I am.
Feats encompass everything from energy blasts, to knowledge of specific events or areas of expertise. See the feat list for a comprehensive description of what is available for selection.
Starting Feats - Everyone starts with a base of 3 feats, if you're a human, you get one more. If you're a kensei you get one more. Those are the only things that change the amount of starting feats.
Skills are different from feats in that when you initially make your character you are given a certain amount of skill points based on your intelligence and class selection. At first level the number can vary from anywhere between 4 to 60 or so, and with good reason. Skills represent abilities that are enhanced as you progress, things that get better as you do. At first level you may put up to 4 points into a single skill.
Starting Skills - These will be certain options you may have to manipulate your energy or abilities. This also covers things as basic as reading/writing and spot checks. Your amount of starting skill points is based on your intelligence stat and class at the begining. Look under classes for more info.
Consult the class information section to determine just how many points you receive at first level. (If you're still confused, E-mail me at Dalamar002@aol.com, or IM me at Dalamar002.)
Writing Test - Simply said I'm not letting in retards. So, send your writing test to Dalamar002@aol.com and if it's acceptable I'll let you know as soon as I can. The writing test should be your first post in the game, an intro of sorts. I will post it if it's acceptable with a few changes to help get your character going and we'll go from there.
