Appearance and Equipment:
Sparkling deep brown eyes look out from tired frames beneath a gray bandana, holding back waves of short hair that was once so black that it shone blue where light struck it; now marked with thick streaks of various colors, whites and reds, purples and blues, all mixed in. His voice carries no discernible accent, though his features are an obvious mix of Shelzari and Calastian. Heavy gray robes are draped over his frame, which is thinly muscular and well-defined. Beneath the robe he wears mismatched clothing, all of a decent quality, and a black leather bandolier crossing his body beneath the robe. Both an expensive silver symbol of Enkili and a hand carved wooden symbol of Enkili hang around his neck to mark his patronage. He's nearly always clean shaven with the scent of soap, mint, mulled apples and a hint of lanta-wood incense about him. A basket hilted rapier with a jet black blade hangs on his left hip, a small quiver of arrows on his right with a shortbow hanging over his chest to cross opposite the bandolier. He carries a small pouch on his belt which carries only 5 Madrum, 10 Belum and 10 Enkilum at any time as well as a long dagger on his belt. Around his wrists are two bands, each of which sheathes a short dagger, and a simple brown rucksack is typically on his left shoulder, with his heavy wooden shield attached.

History:
Juan Marron was born in the city of Shelzar in 133 AV to Jonik and Jana Marron, clerics of the chaos god Enkili. His family had been servants of Enkili for generations beyond memory, long before the Divine War. Juan grew up as the only male child of six total children and, as such, bore the brunt of a great many jokes in a house filled with followers of the Trickster.

His life was full of travel as a youth, all the way from the Bridged City to Shelzar and most of the cities in between. Traveling in wagons across land, they were attacked many times but, through Enkili's favor, came out on top every time. Juan learned to speak in soothing tones to reassure the others as he fought, to spur on both himself and even those around him. Even when young, he was a wonderful speaker and most people just took it as a sign of Enkili's favor. Juan, however, saw nothing to it. It was just something he did to keep himself from running off scared, taunting the enemy and making sure those he allied with knew they could come out victorious.

While in a city during these travels, young Juan loved nothing more than to just hang out in the temple and bars as his father worked, prayed and preached, listening to stories of far off places, rumors and bawdy tales, jokes and laughter. He always felt most comfortable sitting around with a large group and just listening. Juan's favorite older sister, Mira, left home when Juan was a mere ten years old. Before she left, she gifted her only brother with a holy symbol, hand carved and blessed by Mira herself. This holy symbol, though old and worn, is still kept by Juan who takes careful care of it.

Juan was, as could be expected, trained to be a priest of Enkili like so many of his family before him. Unfortunately, no true gifts were ever bestowed upon him by his goddess. Juan struck out on his own early, seeking reasons his faith was ignored while those of less piety were still granted abilities. Soon after leaving his home, something found Juan, and it wasn't his god. Something latched on to his emotions, his love for Enkili, his desperation at being ignored, his fear, and his feelings of betrayal and seemed to feed off of them.

Juan slowly gained powers from his seemingly powerful patron, all the while thinking it was Enkili finally seeing how much he loved her. At first, Juan was delighted that Enkili had finally heard his prayers and answered, but the power felt empty. Whereas his sisters had felt a sense of elation and joy upon using their abilities, as they had touched into the well of their god's love and she had responded, but Juan felt... pain. The sensation of daggers stabbing into his stomach and pounding headaches came, if only for a few short seconds, with every spell. As he grew in power and ability, this pain was eventually whittled away to a numbness or a hollow feeling. He no longer gives it any thought.

Almost exactly one year after he had first gained his powers, Juan began to feel very hot and extremely sick, the twisting in the pit of his stomach becoming unbearable. Even with the help of a few of his friends he still barely made it to a safe place in time to pass out, and he slept for nearly two days after. After awakening, he discovered a number of drastic changes. He gained numerous multicolored highlights streaking his once jet black hair, reds and blues and purples and whites, and he found an interesting feeling in the back of his mind. A sort a tingling, a sense of something beyond himself. It took him a while to sort through these alien feelings but, once he did, he noticed he wasn't alone. A raven sat nearby, staring intently at him, and it wasn't until the bird spoke that Juan realized he had somehow been bound to the creature. The raven, once the same as all other ravens and as jet black as Juan's hair before the binding, was changed in many ways. His feathers became constantly ruffled and no longer black, instead ranging from storm gray to shock white, and his beady eyes shone green. The binding strengthened both of them, the bird gained a portion of Juan's intellect and the ability to speak, surprisingly with none of the typical cawing speech impediments, while Juan uses the bird as a balance, a way to shunt things he can't or doesn't want to deal with. The bird, who named himself 'Erevan,' is excitable and acts on impulse and whim with only the admittedly already impulsive Juan to keep him safe. He shares Juan's flair for the dramatic (for instance, performing aerial stunts as he flies) but tends to eschew combat when possible, at Juan's request. The bird is often louder than his master and companion.

Quick-witted and well read, the young Enkilite's intellect is seldom matched. He seems to know something about nearly everything and is quite well known and liked in the city of Fangsfall and it's environs. Few and far between are those on the Fangsfall Peninsula that don't heed his words and warnings. All who know Juan know he's a devoted servant of Enkili and a devoted friend, more than happy to do whatever is asked of him. Juan has even been a student at the Stonefist Monastery and is still considered an Initiate at that institution, spending time there or taking up monastic study again temporarily when the urge strikes him. He also owns a small house in the Common District, situated near the Merchant District and the Temple of Enkili.

Juan is the godfather to Faith Moontear, the Quarter-Forsaken Elven Daughter of Drax and Anastrianna Moontear, and Telkara Boneflower, the Wood Elven Daughter of Laren and (the late) Ivellius Boneflower. He loves both of these children and would do anything for either of them and their parents, and it pains the twenty-year-old human deeply to know that he'll be dead of old age at the least before Telkara (affectionately nicknamed 'Karai') is grown. He tries not to think about this too much and live in the now, but inside he knows he'd do nearly anything to be vital and live to take care of Karai and watch her grow.
