For 2002
the sales of Intracom are expected to be 1.1bn Euro while the profits are
estimated at 170m Euro. The group had at the end of 2001 deals worth 1.4bn for
the following two years. The management is considering the position of the
company very strong because of the following:
1.
Intracom
is considered the bigger company in its field for the SouthEast Europe with
high specialization.
2.
It
is investing high amounts on R&D. For 2002 this is expected to be about
100m Euro. Furthermor it has established strong relationships with Carnegie
Mellon University in USA.
3.
It
has an extensive international clientele.
4.
It
has low operational costs, strong financial position and experienced
management.
Deal
with German Army.
The company is close to a deal with German army for the provision of WISPR. This is a modern system of digital communication and data transimision including image transmission. The talks started after an invitation for a demonstration of the system of the Commision of Communications and Electronics of the German army.
At the end of March, Sokrates Kokales the
Presindent of Intracom proposed a merger deal with the Hellenic Telecomunications Organisation. The deal was rejected by the Government mainly for political
reasons. This was for clearing the roumours for the government to be heavily
influenced by the specific businessman. After that at the beginning of April
the president of the two companies anouncent that they will be merged. The
merger proccess will be complete untill the end of this summer and the new
company will be under the brandname of Intracom but with mixed management.
