1.     WORK EXPERIENCES

2004-now

DG of Environmental Emergency  at The Ministry of Water & Environment:

 Additional to daily duties I  managed to achieve the following:

·                     Coordinating with  International Secretariat  of Disaster Risk Reduction (ISDR) to support Yemen to implement Hyogo Framework for Action 2005-2015.(Output of  WCDR)

·                     Coordinating with Joint UNEP/OCHA Environmental Unit to approve Capacity-building program on Environmental Emergencies for Yemen.

·                     Contributing in the progress on International Environmental Emergency Partnership Program (EEPP).

·                     Arrange and coordinate for UNEP mission for Tsunami Rapid assessment 5-11 Feb.2005.

·                     Arrange and coordinate for the Joint UNEP to assess Yemen capacity in Environmental Emergency 3-7 March2005.

·                     Draft the proposal of Contingency Planning and Hazard Mapping of Oil Exploration and Production Plants in Yemen

·                     Coordinate with   UNEP for Tsunami Assessment Mission and contribute in Yemen Report of  Rapid Environmental  Assessment (Published by UNEP) and   Draft the National Report of Tsunami Impact on Yemeni's coasts.

·                     Contibuting on Environmental Profile r for Sana'a ,Taiz, Hodidah, Aden ,and Hadramot governorates in Yemen  by  proposing , designing  questionairs , study carrying out ,reporting and reviwing  final draftsfor the Ministry of Water & Environment  under supervision of Water & Environment Center, Sana'a University.

·                     Managed and Reported The National Status on Disaster Risk Reduction to be submitted to the World Conference on Disaster Reduction (Kobe-Hyogo, Japan, 18-22 January 2005) and ISDR...( published in http://www.unisdr.org/eng/country-inform/reports/Yemen-report.pdf

2003- Now

Director of Environmental Emergency Unit(EEU) at The Ministry of Water &Environment: Additional to daily duties ,the following activities have been carried out since the inception of the unit;:

Institutional

· Drafted ministerial decree and developed mandate for the unit;

· Drafted proposal on mandate of the Ministry of Waters and Environment in the civil defense council;

· Identified and established 22 focal points in relevant ministries;

· Established contact list for international assistance;

Coordination

· Distributed announcement of establishment of unit to international organizations;

· Participated in various workshops on environment and disaster management related topics in Yemen;

· Conducted two inter-ministerial assessment mission to a wildfire in palm-tree forest in Almuka (May 2004) and to a oil spill Hodidah (November 2004);

· Drafted various proposals for ministerial consideration to implement work programme;

Information and awareness

· Issued various press releases on work carried out by unit;

· Published various articles in English and Arabic newspapers in Yemen;

· Designed database for environmental emergencies;

· Distributed glossary of environmental emergency terminology;

· Collection of various assessment guidelines and standards;

Others:

· Represent the Ministry of Water & Environment of UN of Disaster Management Thematic Group in Yemen under supervision of WHO Permanent representative.

· Represent the Ministry of Water & Environment of National Disaster Plan Sitting up Committee as Vice-Chairman of the Advisory group.

· Prepared the National Report on Disaster Risk Reduction that submitted to World Conference on Disaster Reduction (Kobe-Hyogo, Japan, 18-22 January 2005.

· Lead and report all Environmental Assessment processes in Environmental Emergencies and disasters which conducted by the Ministry Of Water and Environment.

· Initiate the plans and programs of EEU.

· Coordinate with stakeholders to create EE partnership

 2002-2003

Vice manager of Environmental Impact Assessment Unit at Environment Protection Authority (EPA):

Additional to daily duties I  managed to achieve the following:

· Worked as focal point and group member at Global Mercury Assessment Program which conducted by UNEP Chemicals

· Coordinated and carry out the Workshop of Roads & Environmental Impact Assessment in Yemen Jan 2003.

· Preparing worksheet about Environmental Problems and proposals, For Solutions in Autma protected Area.2003.

· Participate on Several EIA Studies.

· Coordinating and preparing worksheet about food safety policies to present it in national seminar for Chemical, food and Drags safety that arrange by Shora Council in Yemen 2003.

1997-2001 

Director Of Environmental Monitoring laboratory at Environment Protection Council (EPA) Additional to daily duties I  managed to achieve the following

·         Conducted environmental assessment for diesel spill event on Rimah ragin.2001.

·         Participated in several EIA and other pilot studies through conducting air pollutants measurements.

·         Prepared the first proposal for Environmental Monitoring for Sana'a Municipality Secretary 1998.

·         Did the first air pollution survey for CO, TSP. in several streets of Sana'a City1998.

·         Assisted several social and environmental NGOs to be launched or developed its activities.

·         Set Air pollution Monitoring and assessment Proposal with Supervising of Dutch BKH Co. consultants.

·Initiated by proposed Autma District as Environmental Protected Area.

 1996 -  1997

·        Worked with Environmental Health Dep. On Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, now Min of Public Work as food safety, monitor.

Additional to daily duties I  managed to achieve the following:

·                 Did food-monitoring strike for meat and fish production safety on shops of Sana'a City.

1989 -1991

·        Worked as Primary school Teacher at Min. Of Education in Autma District.

·   More than 9 years work with the computer  led to professional experience on computer programs and hardware maintenance. I have enough capacity to perform  following functions:

o  Set up and work with Windows 95,98,2000 & Windows XP, Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Adobe Photoshop and others.

o    Fixing daily technical computer problems, using networks and internet.

o                           Well-known using of some environmental modeling  & programs such as Arc-view for Geographical Information System (GIS), Sima-Pro. for Environmental Impact Assessment, Stella7 for Simulation flue Processes, .D-flow program Simulation foe Aquatic eco system.

5. MEMBERSHIP OF PROFESSIONAL BODIES & SOCIAL ACTIVITIES                                                            

· Member of International Environmental Emergency Advisory Group under coordination of Joint UNEP/OCHA Environmental Unit.

· Vice chairman of The advisory committee of  National disaster plan in Yemen Since April, 2005

· Permanent coordinator of the Ministry of Water & Environment (MEW) at The National Supreme Civil Defense Council, 2003.

· Coordinator of   proposed National Team of Environmental Emergency Response

· Member of several consultancy Companies in Yemen.

Registered with Social Fund for development in Yemen and several environmental consultancy Firms as Environmentalist in Yemen.

· Executive member for environment and women affair in Tharwan Social Society Autma district Dhamar providence. I was one of the planners and coordinator for pilot project to educate average 50 % of women in Autma district .About 50% of target women can read and write now that project had support from the other NGOs and local people and Government Since 2002.

·  Volunteer consultant and planner for Albunian Social Society (Autma –Dhamar) and Albunian Environmental. Social Society (Harib, Marib province).

· Member on Consumers Protection Association in Yemen (Technical Committee).

· Member of; Autma Protected Area Society, Alamostaqbal Environmental. Society, and Environment Protectors Society and Native Life Protection Society and others.

· Cooperated in several T.V. programs.

6. INTERESTS & FUTURE HOPES

Environmental topics, Medical Natural Herbs, computer, Internet, NGOs, New Environmental Technologies, Food Technologies.

Hoping and working for doing PhD degree in Environmental Science specially Air Pollution or in Social Environmental impacts. One of the major topics I hope to make researches  is on the relation between the environment and the people behaviors and ethics
