Religion and Science Programme
"When we consider what religion is for mankind, and what science is, it is no exaggeration to say that the future course of history depends on the decision of this generation as to the relations between them."
Alfred North Whitehead
In the past few decades there has been an increasing realisation of the need for interdisciplinary work in understanding and relating responsibly to the world. The University of Cape Town's department of Religious Studies is developing a programme that aims to foster research, dialogue and teaching at the interface of religion, science and culture, especially African culture, that will be mutually and synergistically beneficial.
Director of the progamme is Dr Augustine Shutte (Email: augustineshutte@uctreligionandscience.com)
Queries about the programme should be addressed to him.
