New York City's 'Dancer'

 

    

 

Creator of "The Electric Slide" and the only Square Dance created in the Last 50 Years -

"The Texas 'Silver' Star" which was premiered on The Country Music Awards Show in 1989.

Known in NYC as the Dancer - Ric performed at Studio 54 in "The Blue Boy"

and opened numerous clubs as the featured dancer.

He created "The Robot" at Connecticut College in 1972, Breakdancing at The Monster in Manhattan,

cleared the dance floor at Fire Island's "Monster", and was a regular at The Sanctuary, The Saint, The Anvil, The Barn, The Department Store to name a few.

He gave the Opening Nite party at Vamp's Disco at 71st and B'way, and taught "The Electric" at Vamp's re-opening party thru June 1976.(Video available at New WEB PAGE - see below)

He was the premier dancer at The Department Store and the Toolbox.

Ric was the only person hired at the Urban Arts Corp's dance auditions for Vinette Carroll's "All The Kings Men".

Alvin Ailey Company dancers were hired to fill the other roles.

When the Andrew Sister's decided to take "Over Here" on the road - one role opened up and 600 male dancers

auditioned for the Jitter Bug solo - Ric was hired but the Andrew sister's cancelled the tour for health reasons.

Ric was also hired to do the original "Dr. Pepper" commercials -which shot the commercial in what was then

"The Robert F. Kennedy Theatre for Children - but was pulled out at the last minute because the producer felt he would outshine

the "Dr. Pepper Boy" which was the producer's lover. On his third audition for "A Chorus Line" - Michael Bennett pulled Ric aside and

stated "Ric - your too good, you'll stand out - don't bother coming back - NEXT"
