In the middle of the Laguna Lake lies an idyllic island.  The Island is populated by 29,000 inhabitants along the Binangonan territory  according to the 2004 census.  However the actual dwellers are fewer because some have already migrated to other places as near as Laguna province and as far as Canada and United States.  Most houses are  along the coastlines and the base of the mountain ridges. Fishing and basket weaving are the primary sources of livelihood.  Some are lucky enough to find jobs in  Binangonan mainland and in the industrial areas of San Pedro,  Binan and Sta Rosa, Laguna.  The Island may not boast of sand beaches but it may provide solace for those who want to escape from the polluted air of Metro Manila.  Unlike the urban jungle,  the crime rate is zero.      There are 2 parishes in the Island.   The Parish of our Lady of Lourdes situated on the Cardona side and the much older church,  Sto. Domingo which located on  the Binangonan side.    Sto Domingo is the mission area of the CICM in the Rizal province.  It used to be called a sub-Parish or a quasi-Parish.  Through the pioneering efforts of Rev. Fr. Raymond Bodson, CISM,  the small church flowered into a big community of dedicated lay leaders found in all the barangays and sitios.  In 1997 the task to continue the Christian formation was turned over to the Diocese of Antipolo who assigned the first  diocesan pastor,  Rev. Fr. Rowie Reyes.   Later other diocesan priests  marched in,  Rev. Fr. Gerry Masangya,  Rev. Fr. Bonifacio Chavez,  and the present pastor, Rev. Fr. Bienvenido C. Miguel, Jr. In February 1, 2004,  Most Reverend Bishop Gabriel Reyes officially declared it a PARISH, with Fr. Bien Miguel as the first Parish Priest.
