Fair Day Activities

Neither rain nor wind could stop the visitors or the scouts on Fair Day. Our corn fritters were a big hit and John Grim was in his short order cook mode. Mrs. Grim must follow him in the kitchen with a sponge when he cooks. The cooking and craft demonstrations were accompanied by scouts performing musically or vocally; another Jack Berry and crew production.

This was followed by another campfire. The singing and chanting was loud and full of gyrations. A small calamity was resolved today when Banning found his missing patch bag and neckie. He found his neckerchief in the bottom of his sleeping bag, and his patch bag was found in another tent. He chose to sleep in this other tent one rainy night, and Banning is never far from his patches.

Brad seems to have acquired muddy footprints on the seat of most of his shorts and pants. Robin has a role to play in the Monday night performance of Harry Potter, he finds out tonight. The boys plan to set up Jack and I on Tuesday nights Kross party, as Karioke singers, Jack does not know. I’m glad Sally arrives after this embarrassment. Jeff has demonstrated how fickle he is. Scott had a good time visiting with Steph’s family especially her little brothers. Drew is now functioning well with the camera and has taken more than enough embarrassing shots.

The mud here is pervasive. I had to break down and buy gaitors. For the uninformed, those are leg coverings. Otherwise you legs or pants are mud splattered within minutes. For me a happy reunion occurred; going out to dinner with my Scottish daughter, Susan, her sister, Chrissy, her friend and my Blair 2000 friend Alana, and Susan’s mother Anne. It was nice to eat a good meal without muddy grass as flooring.

The boys are arranging home stay today and tomorrow. I will post the information as soon as it is available.

Today, Sunday, the sun has emerged and we started the day’s activities with an all-camp scouts own service. That will be followed by the international games. (More to come)

Through Mud and Rain, Fair Day

Old friends and a new work crew for Jack, plus MUD

We attended Scouts Own, then we danced and played. Sometimes playing with Jeff can be painful.

Of course there is camping

Here are some new photos that show some of the fun, antics, and events that occurred on fairday.
