about

This website was originally made for class project in 2004 I think... that's why it included a resume and a lot of other weird stuff.  For some reason there have been some hits and I've decided that I'll keep this website up, but I erased some stuff.

By the way: that's a very old file of me scratching, my equipment and abilities are a lot better nowadays.

Sounds

The following wav file is a summary of my scratching ability, performed live, recorded in one take.  I'm scratching sounds from DIRTSTYLES' "Heavy Petting Breaks" record over a drum loop taken from Nas' "I Can."

This next file is an example of a part of a typical set I would spin for a club, gearing the music towards a main-stream rap audience.  The first beat is a loop I made from The Showboys' "Drag Rap" instrumental, combined with the bass and drums of "Wait" - Ying Yang twins. This home-made remix also contains vocal snippets taken from several other songs to create sort of an original chorus. This file lets you hear my remixing ability (construction of the first beat) and mixing ability: at a certain point you hear me mix in a new beat on top of the current one. Listen to the transition between my remix and Too Short's "Shake that Monkey."  This was performed and recorded in one take. Besides adding extra flare to the music, mixing has a practical purpose: if the music never stops, especially if it transitions into an exciting song and never misses a beat, the crowd keeps dancing (which is a DJ's essential purpose).
