Two TV-Cameras Are Better Than One

by

Ernie Kovacs

That's both of me on the television, demonstrating how fast my Pinklehoff's Pounds-Off Pellets work. What you are seeing is me "before" and me "after," all at once. Below is my special Indian Yogi Rope Trick (I only perform it on TV). I am able to accomplish these and any number of other miracles with the help of two or more cameras. This technique has distinct advantages, as you can see on the following pages.

Critics say the public soon gets tired of the same old face on the same old show. So I throw mine on two or three times at once, which means you will either get tired of m twice as fast, or maybe I'll last twice as long. If the former, I will retire and become one of the public and, in turn, start getting tired of other comics. Or, if the latter holds true, I will be able to continue swapping heads with a pumpkin and Edith Adams, the pretty singer on my show. (The head on Edith's right is mine.)

Before, when I used to work in radio and the theater, I was just like everybody else. Now, I can balance myself on the arms of a straw-stuffed dummy and even make like a ship in a bottle (it's easier when they take the water out). As I've said before, these special effects are very difficult to do on television. They require double and triple superimpositions, a matting amplifier, horizontal and vertical reverse scanning and a lot of other things. If it all sounds confusing to you and you still don't understand how it works, that's fine. That's why I'm on TV.
