What is the Flash?
The New Fairfield "Flash" Track Club is a non-profit community organization of middle school-age student participants and adult volunteers from New Fairfield and Sherman. The N.F. Track Club is a member of the American track federation (USATF) and not directly affiliated with the New Fairfield Schools or N.F. Parks & Recreation. Our coaches and organizers are volunteers -- we do this for the love of the sport -- and of the children of our town.
The club was founded in the spring of 2001 and has two distinct seasons -- track & field in the spring and cross country in the fall. Practices consist of fitness training; and meets include team events (against local schools & clubs) and open events (individual competitions and championships). All 6th through 8th-grade boys and girls are eligible to participate ... regardless of experience or ability. We have no cuts and no bench, everyone competes!
The "Flash" is sponsored by the New Fairfield Community Service Club, Community Thrift Shop and New Fairfield Jaycees. Their support has allowed the team to order equipment; pay entry fees and registration; reserve bus transportation; buy awards and secure insurance coverage.
Participant obligation includes:
$40 Registration Fee
$35 Team Uniform
USATF Registration Form
Waiver of Indemnification
Copy of Birth Certificate
Photo of Athlete
Parents should alert coaches if their child is injured or cannot participate in meets. We also encourage and need parent volunteers for help in club organizing, meet officiating and coaching/teaching.
